My engine has had a vibration for some time(about 6 months) I had a used engine put in(they sad it was an import with low miles)about 1 year ago and it was fine at first but then the vibration came. I called them up and they said it might be the balance shaft.well they tore it apart and said they had found nothing wrong with the balance shaft being off or anything else was wrong. I took it to a car dealership paid $120 bucks to check it out, they said taht my balance shaft timming is off and also my timming belt is off set to my balance shaft(they wanted $1,100 bucks)f**k that.also now i have an oil leak thats leaking all over my driver side of my engine not much, i have to put about a half a quart every two weeks. but oil is getting every where. CAN ANY BODEY HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

HEY THANKS FOR THE REPLIY. :thumb: BALANCE SHAFT FRONT ONE, HOW HARD IS IT TO REMOVE I MEAN YOU HAVE TO DROP THE ENGINE RIGHT??? DID YOU HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH YOUR 94 TALON???HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD YOUR TALON FOR BRO!!! :talon:

I have had my Talon since '96 :). I can't say that have ever had this problem on any of my DSMs (I had around 15 over the years), but I am very familiar with this one on friend's and customer's cars.

Look up a VFAQ (www.vfaq.com) on how to do it. You do not need to remove the engine, but you will have to drop the oil pan and remove the front plate.

>HEY DO THINK YOUR 94 DSM IS THE BEST ONE YOU HAVE HAD?????

Well, that is the only one I hang on to over all of these years (I got my first AWD DSM in '91). :)

But it is definitely the most rare 1G! However, there isn't any difference between '93 and '94 DSMs (not in CA, anyway).

I would agree with the balance shaft being out of timing. It's about the only thing that would cause slight to moderate engine vibration. If you don't mind the vibration too much you can go with a balance shaft eliminator kit (only 35$ from DSS). If you want to keep them tho I would definetly replace the BS belts and the timing belt since you'll be working on the front of the motor anyway. Your oil leak could be coming from your crank oil seal if so you'll want to replace that soon before your timing belt becomes oil soaked and breaks.

Good luck man! :thumb:
