Engine swap

Ok here is the deal.

I have a 91 Talon TSI Manual

I also own a 96 Talon TSI Auto that has no engine or trans

I want to toss the engine and trans into my 96. I need to know if I need the ECU and wiring from the 91, will the engine drop right in along with the trans, and If i want to convert the 96 auto into a manual. can i use the linkages, shifter etc in the 96

To answer your question is yes and no, why because 2g transmissions are diferent from 1g tranmissions i belive is the motor mounts, no for the tranny and yes for your motor is a 6 bolt and motor you need to modified your motor mount. You need your 1g cas this be a good time to get dsmlink why because you doing a engine swap and 6bolts dont have the crank sensor, you be fine using your ecu theres no need to change yours,im going to give the links how you can do the swap. But you need a 2g tranny a 95-96 you be fine you can used your 91 tcase,you need the 6 bolt flywheel 7 bolt wont work and you can use your 6bolt awd flywheel with the 2g tranny.

would it be easier to just bolt the 2g auto transmission to the 1g engine? that would have the 6 bolt flywheel correct?

then id just need to find the proper mount for the 1g to fit in the 2g?

or is it just as simple as finding a 2g manual trans and a 6 bolt flywheel and im good to go? which car has the proper flywheel? the 1g or 2 g

so no new engine mount is needed. I just need to fabricate the 2g engine mount for it to fit?

As far as the ECU. If you are putting a manual into an automatic car you need to swap ECU also. They are different!

You can use the 6 bolt with the 2g auto but you will need the bellhousing spacer for the converter to fit the 6 bolt flex plate properly. You will just need to modify the driver mount by cutting one corner off of it and it will bolt right to the 6 bolt block.
