engine swap question

hi all, this may be a stupid question but i have a friend who says has a 7 bolt evo III shortblock he wants to get rid of. what mods would necessary to get it into my car using my 95 head? i would like to do this because the evo III has stronger internals than my 95 has. so be nice and dont flame, just give me straight answers.

Where did you hear that the internals would be different???? I have never heard anything along those lines...

Anyways in order to make it work (I bought a jdm 7 bolt engine and tranny (off a galant vr4 rs I believe)) you basically have to swap just about everything external on the block over.

From power steering brackets to oil pressure gauge sensors... it's not fun.

Actually the internals on the evo III are different. The c/r is 8.8:1 instead of the standard 8.5 in 2Gs. And no you wouldnt have to swap everything over on the evo motor. I have an evo III motor in my 98 talon and everything bolted up just fine- minus the smog crap that i didnt use, but can be used. As far as the benifits you really wont notice any from swapping just the block. The only plus to it is that the rumor is Evo motors are less likely to crankwalk then the USDM 7 bolts because they were built in japan. Weather or not this is true I dont know. If you can get it for a good price then why not. The evo Oil filter housing has outlets for an external oil cooler too which is good.
