so a vacuum test showed nothing out of the ordinary, still no codes and its stalled again twice but only on cold days, 2 and -3 degrees, coolant temp sensor is also fine. I have absolutely no other problems. I'm really starting to think its in the fuel system somewhere, it seems like not enough fuel is getting there on start up. The weird thing is after shes warmed up and if I can keep her running till I get cruising speed there are no signs of it until the next start up. My lifters are making some noise.

im pretty new to these cars but maybe a slow or failing idle air control motor (iac) could be the problem just my 2cents.

also maybe perform a fuel pressure test.

I just cured a low/rough idle and occasional stalling problem on my 99 GS. Here are the steps I followed, maybe they can help you:

-took out and cleaned the IAC (and rest of throttle body) with carb cleaner (mine was filthy!)

-had timing checked (mine was fine, but a tooth or two off can cause the motor to run real sluggish and stall)

-cleaned MAF sensor (filthy!)

-changed spark plugs

-used Seafoam (sucked it through vacuum line on throttle body, also added just a little into spark plug holes)

-added rest of can of Seafoam to gas tank

-removed intake manifold and cleaned thoroughly (only reason I did this was because I just had to replace the two heater hoses running to the firewall, I figured I'd clean the manifold while I had it out...not too difficult to remove the manifold though)

-checked and cleaned EGR Valve with ether and carb cleaner (it was filthy too!)

Car has 133,000 miles on it, but after doing all that, you'd never know it...the motor really came back to life!

I definitely recommend running the Seafoam through it (use the vacuum line way of administering it) first, and see if that solves the problem. Be sure to follow the instructions on the can closely.

If you think the EGR may be part of the problem, try disconnecting it first and see if the idle smooths out (it'll throw a check engine light on, but you can ignore this while you're testing...the light will go out once you reconnect the EGR).

Hope this helps.
