I didnt know where to post about the problem Im haveing.

Hope this is ok.

So I did a 6 bolt swap in my dads 95 TSI AWD. Its moslty stock. with a cometic head gasket and arp head studs. It has a knock off big 16g turbo. huge fmic. and short route piping. It also has the balance shafts removed. Im useing the stock MAF with it recirculated.

it also has the stock ecu.

For some reason it revs up real slow. I havent driven it yet since Im working on getting it running right and working on the body still.

I have set the timeing according to the chilton manual I have. the timeing marks are all right on.

I dont understand why it revs up so slow.

Could you define "slow"? Can you post a log? Is your throttle body/plate/cable in proper adjustment and working order? What boost are you seeing?

I dont have anything to log with.

It takes longer than it normally should when free revving. I dont know how it would rev driving it since I havent tried yet.

The throttle cable is adjusted properly and everything is working right. I have even revved at the throttle body itself and it does the same thing.

When I let off I can hear the blow off valve release the pressurized air.

I havent done a leak test. It comes right back down.

what do you know about the 6 bolt you installed? have you done a compression check ?

Yes I did a compression test. they were all right around the same. Like 130 or something.

I've never done a six bolt swap so we need somebody to chime in thats done one, I know there's alot of information here on tuners I assume you've done some searching .... Im thinking it sounds timing related, sorry I couldn't help further and good luck, Im curious now.

I have thought about the fuel filter, so Im going to go ahead and change it and see what that does. After that Ill check the fuel pressure.

Thanks guys. Ill keep you updated.

130 seems really low for compression, 137 psi is the service limit for NA 1g's and 114 for turbo 1g's. Was that a wet or dry test? And is this a fresh stock rebuild or does the motor have some miles on it already? Also you need to check your ignition timing if you haven't already. With it retarded too much it can feel real doggy and slow. So get a timing light. Engine Timing

Its been a while since I did the compression test. It could be higher it could be lower, but i doubt its lower. I do know they were all very very close.

I have a timing light and I timed it according to the chilton manual I have.

It was a dry test and its a turbo motor with I dont know how many miles. Its low mileage though.

a log would be very helpful, download techno motive data logger software, it cost nothing for the software, and the cable is a few bucks to make at radioshack. works great!

anyways have you eliminated missfires? dsm's use the waste spark ignition. check if 2 cylinders are dead, that will cause a slow rev.

check your physical timing marks. mine was out 2 teeth when i bought it and it rev'd slow also. I have it in time and converted to ds-map and it revs like my old 9.0 motor did !

I havent worked on the car in a while.

I replaced the fuel filter the other day.

Before it was having problems starting, but when it did it would idle nice, but rev slow.

Now it wont even run. I prime it with some gas in the intake and it starts, then it acts like it wants to idle and then dies. I try to give it gas to keep it running and it dies.

Even if i dont prime it with some gas I can crank it then crank it then crank it alot of times and it finally wants to start. then it acts like it wants to idle and then dies. I try to give it gas to keep it running and it dies.

I hear the pump working so I know its good.

All the timing marks are right on.

This car is giving me a headache.
