If you have 4 hours why isnt it out on the ground???? I had my engine and tranny out in about 40 mins and completely apart in about 3 hours.......about the time it hit 6 hours it had been rebuilt and put back in :D guess i was moving right along. And i think now i could have it out in 20 mins since i have had it out 6 times in less than 6 months :|

LOL thats why i posted in newbie room, its my first engine rebuild and my buddy thats helping me it is his first dsm rebuild so we are taking our time. The car is off the road and the head i ordered is about week and a half out so we have no reason to hurry.

p.s. can i reuse the head bolts, i read on the forum yes and no so im not sure?

Your time is more then fast enough - its not a race the abilityt to yank a trans in 20 mins
really is nothing special.
1g head bolts are re-useable (2g bolts are not) but i recomend upgrading to ARP's

Another thing i was wondering is that should I get new pistons. Most people are quick to say oh ya definitly need pistons no matter what. I was looking at mine last night and they look very good (LOL rings didnt) The cylender walls? didnt have any signs of etching though. I hope im making sence because im just starting to learn alot. Im still havent decided to get new ones or not. My question is should i get new ones and if yes what size. If i get standard size that i wont have to do much machine work but if i get 10 or 20 oversized then ill most likely have to bring it to a machine shop right? All input is appreciated...

You should take your block to the machine shop and let them tell you to oversize your psitons or not. It all depends on if your cylinder walls need to be bored or not.

Same with the crank it may or may not need to be turned down.
