OK. I've decided It is time to learn how to rebuild one of these 4G63Ts. I know its one hell of a project. I've got factory manuals and enough post clippings and vfaq/write ups on stuff to kill a horse. I also have time, and all spring and summer.

I've never rebuilt an engine. I've worked in general industrial mantenance for a number of years. This is all new to me, never did much work on cars..I did my timing belt/pulleys. This is more of a thing for my gain. I have this thing where I MUST know how things work if I really am into them. I'm pretty much a self taught computer guru because of this fact.

I'm going to buy an engine(broken, in sperate pieces, or if I HAVE to in a car). My question is with all the ebay and dsmtrader/tuner sites resources(being frugal) would it be cheaper to A: Buy 4g63T that had a timing belt snap(or other problem). B: Buy it in used but good pieces. or C: Buy a 4G63 and convert it to Turbo in the rebuild.

I've found information on how must of a b!tch it is to convert a whole NA car to turbo..but what about just the engine?

I'm thinking I want to spend on this and do a 2.3L stroke because otherwise I don't really have any buisness wasting money rebuilding an engine when mine is perfectly fine. You have to understand the intense desire to know about things inside and out. UNLESS I can rebuild a 2.0T engine and break even or profit from the work at the days end.

If you really have to know how things work and don't want to spend a lot. I would go to the junk yard and see if they have a 2.0 turbo motor. I picked one up for 375 just so i could pull parts off it. Trying to convert a NA motor to turbo is just as useless as converting a NA car to turbo. Just buy the same kind of engine you have in your car... that way if your car has troubles you know what everything looks like and how it goes.
