hi-

ok, im in the process of finishing up my timing belt change, and im putting the engine mount brkt bak on. ( on the timing belt cover) there are 3 long blk bolts that need to go in, but it looks like theres not enough room whatsoever. now, i know they go in because, well, they came out!!! haha i tried raising the engine some up and down to maybe get more room that way, but it didnt seem to werk. i just want to know if anyone knows of any tricks that i can do to get these bolts in.

thanx in advance
ps- i posted here cuz i didnt want any turbo guys telling me to go else where with my 420a question.

haha you take me back to my own timing belt change. Yes its a major pain in the neck. We fought with those three bolts for about fifteen minutes. My dad actually knew the trick to get them back in there. I guess the only thing I can tell ya is we lowered it a little then raised it a little to find the best space available then we had to twist it and wrestle with it until we got them back in there. I think we started with the bolt towards the rear of the car and got it over the belt then twisted the front back in and started slowly forcing it backwards until we got them lined up. There isn't much room to work and I manned the jack and dad would tell me raise it a little and then lower it a little until he had the bolts in. So it would help if you had someone to man the jack. oh and make sure no one is under the car when you do that too ;). if you have any questions cause it is confusing post again or pm me I'll see if I can help.

I got them in by putting the two in the rear half way through the engine mount and then work the mount into place. I jacked up the motor as far as I could on that side to do it. The last one is much easier to get in with the overflow resevoir out of course. I remember is wasn't fun.

well,i finally figured out how to do it. i too came to realize that if i put the bolts in the bracket FIRST, then put the bracket on, that it would go in much much easier. i guess you have to be smarter than the car!!

i really really do appreciate the replies. it lets me know that someone out there knows what to do or has gone through the same crap that im going thru.

thanx again guys!!! :thumb:
