i bought a 97 eclipse gst mainly ### i like the looks and the stock turbo (everyone said to get teh gst or gsx). i am an auto tech student so im starting to get into the preformance aspect of it now.

i know alot of people have this problem, and i have read their threads but none of them seem to be what happened to me. i was rebuilding my 4g63 with my cousin. we also put on a 16g turbo, headers, crank sensor, water pump, and a other parts such as piping and what not. :D

Stupidly we were in a hurry to see how the new motor was goig to prefrom. we left the oil drain plug loose.:ohdamn: the oil leaked obviously and engine locked up.:cry: i really dont want to replace the engine sense we jsut put this work into it. is there anything i can do to fix this problem? i was told to replace the bottom end or perhaps putting in a crank kit in would solve my problem?

yes i figured that, any idea on what new parts i would need or jsut replace everything? could i get by just rebuilding the bottom end or am i stuck rebuilding the head as well?

That depends on if it jumped timing. You wount really know untill you check timing and or pull the head. I would recomend a new crank and bearings you can have it turned but it wount be extreamly reliable. As far as the rings you will have to tear it down and check for dammage. Look for scoring on the block but b/c you ran with no oil the rings might be fragged. YOU MUST tear down to decide ### you are going to need.

Once you get the head off see if the cams spin like they should or you can pull the caps and look for scoring. If they move smoothly and have no scoring then the head is likely ok. Bottom end probably needs rods. Maby a crank depending if the journals are scored. Pistons should be ok unless it ran long enough to score the sides from heat expansion. Youll need new rings. The block and if your unsure about checking the rods yourself should be checked by a machinist to see if they are ok or not.

Im assuming that you didnt jump timing and bend the vlaves .

been there done that... :( It deff will need new rods, because they will be burned the hell out.All the bearings (rod and crank).Polish the crank, because the crank Will be damaged by heat .and it will have the marks from the bearings...Pistons might be in a good shape....

1 Crank
2.Rods
3 bearings (rod,Crank)
Those 3 things that you Deff will need.....

Once you get your motor torn down. Take the cams out and look at the caps for any scratches or anything that might look like it has been oil starved. 4G63 lifters are for the most part forgiving but it wouldn't hurt to let them soak in a can of trans fluid or diesel fuel overnight. If you haven't ran your car hard after the build then I would just worry about the bottom end.
