Ok so today me and a buddy were out driving my car and then a huge puff of blue smoke come out of my exhaust and then my engine light turned on. At first i thought my motor finally died but it kept driving fine and no more blue smoke. Later today I drove it again, it still had its engine light on and no blue smoke was coming out. After about 15mins of driving another huge blue puff of smoke came out of my exhaust and then the engine light turned off??? I am getting really confused here, I have never encountered this in my lifetime of owning dsm's and I have had 5 of them, all heavily modded.

Has this happened to anyone....

oh this car has no mods except uncirculated bov and a k&n air filter and a MBC( i dont touch it, it came with the car )

The B.o.v. not being hooked up properly will cause issues with the ecu. It runs crazy rich. You will also feel it when you slightly let up the gas while boosting the gas. There is no gain in power at all having it unhooked. It is more likely losing power. So hook it up.

Maybe theres an oil leak in the turbo? blue smoke is caused by burning oil. and when you hit full boost the oil gets to the intake mani.

i am well aware of this but I do not live in the states and my atmosphere is different and so it does not matter if I vent or not because they are tunered in the U.S. not canada and our atmosphere is way different. it actually helps here or so it feels, and boost builds alot faster after that stupid restriction is taken off... also i took that tube off a long time ago. and this incident just happened so i doubt thats the problem

Oh yes, our cars are tuned for the smog. :p No really, you should recirculate your BOV. The recirculation fitting shouldn't make any difference in spool up speed. Air isn't moving through the recirc pipe while you're building boost, only when you let the throttle. However, it can make you run richer between shifts, to the point where you lose power. No one needs AFR <9:1 while they're letting off the throttle do they? You'll hit it if your MAF thinks there's 600hz of air moving through the TB when there's really only 70.

The ECUs will "tune" themselves to any atmospheric differences between the US and Canada. That's what the fuel trims are for.

As for puffs of blue smoke, how many miles are on your engine and turbo? You might want to do a compression and/or leakdown test.

Could be symptoms a oil line to the turbo leaking or the actual turbo is beginning to show signs that it is on the way out. Or your head gasket might be getting ready to go. My buddies car did the same thing before it completely smoked, except his smoke was a whitish blue not dark blue.

While everyone else is arguing about the bov (which they're right) but it won't cause oil problems, pull the CEL code please.

i cant pull them i dont have a logger or any local place that can. and i cant buy a OBD2 cause my car isnt new enough. but i found out my turbo is 195% distroyed and so is my head gasket so i got this one solved but thanks:thumb:

oh and thanks for all the quick replies guys:pray:
