That is your EGR temp sensor plug. It plugs into a connection just to the right of the detaniton sensor plug on Calif. cars.

You can reach it by comming from the right side and reaching behind the intake.

my car smoke a little under accl. not alot just a tad bit. could this be the problem?

No the only thing it is for is to tell the ECU the EGR is working. When mine showed up it there a interminntent CEL and made no difference in engine opperation.

i hate to reply to a old thread but someone please help my car is running horrible and when i was looking in the engine bay i seen the exact same plug that is in the picutre above in this thread not plugged into anything. i no it is for cali cars only for some egr temp but if your car isnt a cali car does the plug just sit there unplugged???? or if i have that plug does that mean i have a cali car and it needs to be plugged in somewhere? please help..

also can a bad knock sensor code 31 casue a car to run horrible and sputter, knock at start up and when oyu press the gas, have no power, and cut out during acceration and shake horrible at low rpms???? i have good compression but the way the car is runnin it seems my engine is ready to blow up

yes a bad knock sensor will deffinatly make your car run bad. and the plug is there on every model due to mass production. hope this helps you out man

it really does man thanks, so that plug will just sit there and doesnt plug into anything if it isnt a cali car
