Well from what I've read sounds like I don't wanna waste my time with one of those, so what about where that plug plugs into (top left) can that just plug into a laptop and use like tuner pro rt software to data log or is there any use for that?

That cable only connects to the diagnostic port of your ECU on the fuse box located on top of the left foot rest. You can only datalog using that port, even if you were to use TunerPro RT. If you want to use TunerPro RT in order to tune your ECU you need a socketed EPROM ECU and an Ostrich (2.0) to plug into the socket.

Since the datalogger cable is attached to a Palm serial hotsync cable your going to need a null modem and gender changer to connect it to a PC DB 9 serial port.

The part that runs from the DLC connector by the drivers left foot to the female connector pictured is the datalogger cable and the part you holding in your hand to the male connector is the Palm hotsync cable.
