Just bought a 99 GSX and the car has the engine code p1104 on it which is the turbo wastegate solenoid.

Checked the solenoid itself and it is still plugged in and all the vac hoses are hooked up as the should be( there is a diagram of all the vacuum hoses under the hood, I also checked online to verify). Every forum that I have checked of people having this code is because they unhooked the solenoid itself and left it unplugged. Any suggestions?? I ordered a new solenoid from the dealer and I am hoping it is just the solenoid itself that went bad but is there anything else I should check? Boost leak test? I do have an exhaust leak but I dont think it is related to this code, right?

The car is completely stock, there is no MBC on it.

was this code on when you got the vehicle? or did it recently come on? it could be that there is nothing wrong i would clear the code and see if it reappears, especially if your car is running fine. also have you done any recent work on the car?

The car is running fine, I don't have an aftermarket boost gauge so I don't know how much boost I am running though.

The code wasn't on there when I test drove it and right before I bought it, then after I bought and went to drive away in it, it magically appeared ( sure the guy I bought it from never knew about it :notgood:). I then went right back to him and we ran an OBDII scanner on it and that was the code that came up. I made him give me $200 for it after calling the dealer and pricing the part, which is only like $50. We cleared the code with the scanner and it came back on like 5 min later. I also cleared it by disconnecting the battery and it still came back on.

I checked the electrical plug and its plugged in and the 2 vacuum hoses are hooked up right coming off of it. Thinking and hoping that the solenoid just went bad itself...?

And no I haven't done any work to the car, I just bought it and it is completely bone stock, one of the reasons I bought it.

thats something did you check for any leaks after the solenoid? it could be picking something else up, and have you recieved the solenoid yet?

just got the new solenoid hooked up yesterday, cleared the code and it hasn't came back yet. Haven't really got a chance to drive it more than a couple minutes yet though. Should be fixed.. thanks for the replies!
