after doin research I read in order to seat the rings properly you run the motor hard for the first 20miles or so, because the hone will wear the rings to the cylinders wall and it will seat properly? well if this is true dont you have a 500mile breakin period on a new clutch too? so on a new build with a new clutch do you beat on the car or just take it easy?

you need to constantly vary ## engine rpm. you dont want to be cruising on the expressway for an hour at 3krpm the whole time. There is an article on engine breakin at ams site AMSPerformance.com under their tech section. dont redline it but dont baby it! vary throttle positions and rpm but dont beat the complete shit out of it! the clutch is supposed to be broken in for 400-500miles. it will say this in the directions. some may disagree with this but i would break it in if u want the most longevity out of the clutch. just dont be doing wide open throttle powershifts and launches and u should be good if everything was properly installed. good luck

at very first start-up,get the timming set! hold engine at 2000 rpm for 20 to 30 minutes.during this time rev the motor every few minutes but keep at 2000 rpm after every rev.this will seat the rings, thrust bearing and get the lifters pumped up(lifters will be LOUD at first!).like said above dont get on the interstate and cruise 70mph for a length of time, change your speed from 50mph to 80mph otherwise drive it normal and you will be golden.

also after that 20,30 minute break-in dump the oil right away to get rid of all the metal flakes caused from break-in.dont panic, its normal just change oil and filter and you will be good for 3000 miles.

add what gurmanator says and that pretty much sums it up
