Emissions Question

no it will not fly. the inspector will have to check your emission system like your egr and ect... just imagine his face if he can find an egr valve.

would he be able to make his own block off plate and still have the egr valve bolted on but have the vacum lines leading to nothing? i dont know what it would throw up on the cel though?

you can move to ohio! we dont have emission checks here.. i said bye bye to my emissions as soon as i brought the car home :)

I believe the 2g cars check for EGR function as well as EGR power. Us 1g guys can get away with blocking it because our cars only check if it has power.

I think you can remove the charcoal canister and route the fuel vapor line to vent under the car without tipping off an emissions inspector (that stuff is under the battery and hard to see).

There are also some fuel pressure solenoid vacuum line you can delete (aftermarket fuel pump alleviates hot start fuel issues) but if you unplug it from the ECU to do a full delete you will probably throw a CEL in a 2g.

You can ask some 2g guys who have done the delete or it might be possible that ECMlink lets you get rid of everything and still fool the emissions guys (don't quote me on that).

thats why i love ohio!! i live in California, which has very strict emissions, but its registered on ohio so i never have to worry about Californias stupid smog laws :)

I would like to just remove the charcoal canister, leaving the rest of the emissions in place. Would this cause any fuel mileage issues, or anything else negative?

The hose that currently connects to it, what do I do with it?'

I'd like to lower the battery, but its in the way. I wasn't sure if its safe to remove or not.

Thanks for your help

With my spyder I took all three solenoids off the fire wall and cel is present. Also have other things done and my car hasn't been able to be inspected here in the lovely state of NY. As far as link goes not sure if it can help pass but I have heard heard and do not quote me but have heard that there is a file found somewhere on the web that can be used with link to pass. I haven't found it yet and ecmlink does not condone the use of it. As for the file or the know how it would be greatly appreciated if any knowledge of said file would be shared. My pm box is open.

I just removed all the EGR stuff, canister, and lines, but left anything plugged in and tucked out of the way. I immediately got CEL for emissions crap. Reset the light and it came right back. 99 GSX, I wish I would have just left it all in there and found a way to keep it and the FMIC at the same time...

I don't want to take out emissions stuff because I still want to pass inspection. I just want to know if that charcoal canister is going to affect anything.

Idk Ill have to ask my buddy that deleted the whole thing if he throws a cel, I dont ever remember seeing it when I was with him. He dont have emmisions cause if you live one county south you dont have them:hmm:

Your right you have never seen a cel when you've been in my car and I deleted my emissions. That doesn't mean I'm not throwing any codes. Thanks to DSMlink I can just turn the cel off. Like I told you my way around emissions is having titles to a 95 and 96 black talon. Just register them in opposite years.

They also dont do a visual inspection here in NWI. We are not Cali here in the Midwest. We don't have the inspection Nazis you guys have on the west coast. They just plug into your obd2 and check for codes. I think might use a mirror to check you exhaust but they don't look under your hood at all.
