My car failed emissions today, trouble code P1105. I never noticed there was a CEL on, because the MIL is apparently burned out. So P1105 is Fuel Pressure Solenoid...checked it, plugged in and fine. The dealer, however, told me that the problem had something to do with the BCS being disconnected and having an aftermarket Boost Controller. I have read that the BCS will make the computer throw a code if it isn't plugged in, so I checked it out. It's plugged in, of course, that would have been too easy. What else should I do short of reconnecting the BCS for emissions day then hooking my MBC back up afterwards? Would simply turning down the boost fix the problem? Thanks for any help!

Is it difficult to fix the light? It seems like it would be a pain, being as it is in the dash. Maybe the trouble code (fuel pressure solenoid), my not-so-great mileage, and the black soot out my tailpipe are connected? How do I clear the code myself? If the problem isn't fixed, wouldn't the light just come right back on? I have a funny feeling that the light has been "on" ever since I've owned the car...and that isn't comforting, I need ot fix this! Would replacing the FPS most likely fix the code? What else could make it throw a code? Sorry for the long list of questions, but I'm trying to do as much as I can before I'm left paying someone else to fix it.

im not entirely sure how to diagnose a failing FPS. (without the use of a fuel pressure gauge )other then if it was not enough pressure ya would be tending to run lean and to much would make you RICH (bad milage) the bulb isnt THAT hard to get to. ya just have to remove 2 screws to get the gague trim ring off .. then 4 more to remove the whole cluster. but ya, if the problem is really still there then the "cel" will just come right back on. but at the same time- just from the ECU seeing that code it may be running in limp mode. ( im not sure if that paticular code is one of the few that causes this ) to clear the CEL you just remove the neg battery cable from the battery and let it sit for 15 min. then replace it and drive around for a while while the ECU re-learns.

I had that same code and I kept getting it cleared and it would come back on a bout 15 minutes later. I bought a Fuel Pressure Solenoid from someone online partin their car out and no more CEL. I never noticed anything wrong though, but I replaced the solenoid and it no more light.

OK, well I do have crappy gas mileage. I know 15 psi and a heavy foot don't equal Prius mileage :) but I think I'm getting worse than anyone I've heard talking about their average mileage on this site. I'm thinking (and hoping) that replacing the FPS will fix the problem. We'll see.
