hey I'm just trying to find out why my interior lighting and electrically operated items are not working. when i was reconnecting the battery i put the positive on then i was putting the negative on and it arched. Since then nothing inside the car that is electrical works other than the gauge lights. also my head lights when i turn them on wont turn off unless i disconnect the battery.
anyone who can help me I'd thank full for advice.

i have checked all of the fuses they are good.

Solution
ok i figured it out the 60AMP fusible fuse was broke but not blown and i put a new one in and then the alternator fuse blew and then i figured out it was that the alternator was not properly grounded.
thanks everyone for all the info.

and the headlights was part of that it just took me cleaning the head light relay
Did you physically pull them or did you multimeter test them. If the battery arced you definitely did kill something if nothing works. its going to be fuses or relays. Did you check both the fuse boxes? sometimes fuses will look good but not work. Personally if that happened to my car i would go buy a variety pack of fuses and just replace them all.

Slow down just a sec. OP did You mean a big arc or just a little spark? Little teeny spark is normal when you first hookup the battery. Big arc is not and you should've pulled the terminal right then and there.

sounds like you've definitely shorted something as mentioned in the posts above check replace all fuses there not expensive and test your relays also.. for your head lights sounds live your switch has gone bad, from the arch/surge that was created. sounds similar to what happened with my Honda years back. turns out one of the fuses under the hood shorted out. i would say the main culprit is fuses. once you replace all fuses and the problem still persists troubleshoot the fuse boxes as a whole unit.

I would begin by testing the multifucntion switch and a Haynes manual should be able to help you out with that. I would looking at the wiring diagram to try to figure out if the mutifunction switch has influence on the interior lighting also. Good luck
