It seems to me like AFR is a much better tuning tool, why would one buy an EGT gauge/probe setup when they can pick up a wideband setup for not much more?

people use egt gauges for more of a warning tool, not a tuning tool.
Just like he stated. I would very much prefer to be able to monitor my a/f readings at all times than be out blind and not knowing what's going on with my motor.
Yea sure, it's not for tuning, but it's somewhat the same concept with a mbc, you don't tune with a boost gauge, but you do with a mbc, but wouldn't it be nice to monitor boost ?

I`ve had an EGT guage for years. I`m taking it out to put in a wideband this year.

Along with the factory guages, I`ll have a boost, fuel pressure, volt, and wideband guages. Damn, I feel like I too many now
