I always tune off my Pocket Logger and make sure my 02's are perfect (usually right around .92) and have been doing this now for about 4 months with no EGT gauge. Is this hurting my car at all? Do I still need one to monitor the car? I hear they are pretty inacurate. What you think?

You don't need an EGT guage, they're almost useless to tune on anyway since you can't log it and they're so slow to react to changes. It's more of a cautionary thing, like hey stop that or it's gonna be bad...... You really shouldn't tune off the O2's either since they will vary sometime as much as a whole point from what they really are. Look at your fuel trims and timing since it's a 2G. Your fuel trims should be 0 and the timing should be around 19-22 on pump, anymore and you start getting knock.

Not all EGT probes are slow. Cheap ones yes. I have a TRE probe and it will move the gauge around like a tach, super fast. The only way to really tune a car perfect is with a wideband O2. everyone will tell you there "personal favorite" way to tune. Some will use timming, EGT, O2's, or just by ear, but the only accurate way is with a wideband.

There are certain probes that are a little faster to react than others but they are still not completely accurate. And yes the safest and easiest way to tune is with a wideband sensor. They are pretty cheap nowadays, me and a few friends are considering going in on one. If you have a few friends who might benefit also think about it. Order one display and a sensor for each person, for us 2G guys we can just put it where the 2nd O2 goes, then you can just take the controller from car to car as necessary.
