Ok so I've tried searching and this should be a quick and easy question to answer but didnt find it when searching. I am installing the Greddy EGT Gauge and just need to know which wires to put where. I have the light and ground hooked up fine (black and white wires) now for the 12v and the 12v ignition wires (red and orange) can I tap them both to the same source? I want to use the cigarette lighter because it seems to the be easiest one to access. So if they can be tapped together which wire off the cigarette light do you use, the blue or the black one?

Red goes to a constant 12v source (one that gets power with car off) The orange one goes to a 12v that only has power with the ignition on. You can tap them both to the same source if its one that only gets power with the ignition on but if you do that the peak n hold will reset every time you turn the car off. If you connect them both to a constant 12v source the gauge will always be on and drain your battery.

Ok so I tapped the orange into the blue wire for the cigarette lighter and ran the red to a fuse in the fuse box down by the foot rest. The gauge does not work...lights up and everything but has no movement. Were you saying that I should tap the orange into the black wire off the cigarette lighter?

Yes I started the engine and it got fully warmed and the gauge did not move. When I press the memory stick I get no warning light.

The wire that connects the gauge to the sender unit, does that have to be hooked a specific way? I thought it looked the same on both sides so I just hooked it up. I'm going to double check all connections tomorrow. Without the led lighting up it seems like that would mean it isn't getting power correct?

Man this should be fairly easy install the sending unit should have 3 wires at least, ground which is usually black, a switched 12v red and a signal cable. Now the gauge should have 4 or 5 wires depends on the gauge black=ground, red=constant 12v, orange=switched 12v and some gauges have also a dimmer cable which goes to the headlights.
Now you can use your fusebox under the dash on the drivers side for all connections if you have a multimeter and check which wires get power and when that way you don't have to mess with splicing cables somewhere else. Hope this helps man.

Ok I figured it out and it turned out to be just a blown cigarette lighter fuse so it was quick and easy to fix. Luckily I thought to check that before I went through the process of checking all the connections LOL. Gauge is working properly now, haven't taken it for a ride yet but at idle fully warmed I'm reading about 450 degrees Celsius which is just under 850 degrees Fahrenheit and from what I read that's about right. Sometime tonight Ill take it for a cruise and see what I'm reading. Thanks for the help.
