I just bought a block-off plate and am I supposed to take egr valve out and toss it away and install plate and then cap vacuum hose?

Are some people keeping the egr valve in place while using the block-off plate? Because I've seen threads talking about using rtv on both sides of the plate which wouldn't make any sense if you're removing the valve, right?

^ no. The point of the plate is to delete the valve after all.... just put a little grey rtv on the plate and torque the two bolts down evenly.

What do you do with the vacuum line? Does it go back to a solenoid and if so are you removing it and then capping solenoid off?

It's up to you. I pretty much rip the egr out of my dsm's before I get them home. I run my vacuum lines just like this picture does. Your needs may be different but as long you cover the hoses in the diagram you are fine.

I ran a bead of ultra copper rtv around perimeter only of block-off plate and then tightened real good. Does that sound good enough to not worry about leaks? Plate is billet aluminum (6061-T6).

Is it ok to plug vacuum lines with screws? Wondering if capping these lines with tight fitting screws create a good seal or is there a better way to plug them?

Btw I've had a bad engine mis lately and since egr valves are usual suspects I decided to get this block off plate. Well, I also changed spark plug wires at same time since they're old and obviously can cause misfire problems too. So when I was done I checked them in the basement I got no reading on 1 of them. Is it possible I've been running on 3 cylinders?

I found some vacuum line plugs in basement so I'm good now.
