I have a 97 gsx and i am intersted in buying a universal ecu tunning tool that would work on my car and other dsm's any advice on what to buy.

If you're willing to pay the price for it, ECM like version 3 is the best out there right now in my opinion, but it does cost about $500...its great for pretty much everything tuning-wise and its pretty good for beginners too, but if you have no idea what you're doing, i suggest taking it to a shop. Good luck!!!!

Find an EPROM ECU from a '95 and buy DSM Link v3. Hands down the best tuning solution for the dollar with these cars.

A universal tool?

The Tactrix cable with Evoscan and a flashable ECU will work only on '98/'99 ECUs, which would be any DSM with that ECU (it's the black plastic case).

ECMLink requires a '95 EPROM ECU, the ECMLink chip, and their data connector. That will work on any that have Link installed on their car (1g cars use a different cable but the same program)

There isn't a 1 works all type system out there so pick the one that best fits for you and whom ever you would be working with.

Ahhh. Unbiased information. :thumb: Thank you, Scott.

Anyway, here is a little self-advertising. It should help give you the gist of what is required of each 'major' tuning option.
