ecu swap??

hi guys
i know its possibel to put a 1990 awd(gsx) eprom ecu into a 1990 fwd (gst)
but if the awd ecu is from a ca-mt can it be installed into a federal mt car without any problems

yes. 90's turbo ecu's are interchangeable with only 90 turbo cars. 91-94 turbo ecu's are interchangeable with only 91-94 turbo cars, 95-96 turbo ditto, 97-99 turbo ditto..

I thought you could run a 91-94 in a 90 or vice versa by switching the pins on the harness.

yes you can run a 90 in a 91-94, and vice versa. Just have to switch 2 pins in the ecu plug.

The 90 car will run with the later ECU and the 2 pins swapped but you will have problems with the tach bouncing around. There are various fixes including the newest adaptor Keydiver is selling.

Ok so what all needs to be done to get a 90 ecu to work in a 91. Just swapping the two pins?
Everything i read is about putting a 91-94 ecu in a 90.

That's good background information but there are much better solutions now. Keydiver spend some time looking into the problem. First by documenting just swapping the PTM and then wound up developing a tach adaptor to make it easier.
