So i went up to green bay yesterday and purchased an ECU from a friend, he was nice enough to give me 2 just to try both to make sure that one wasn't dead. I untarped my car a bit ago and installed the first one (MD166260, 6260, FWD Turbo), reset the battery and started to crank over my car.....nothing. Installed the second ECU (MD166262, 6262, AWD Turbo), reset the battery, cranked it over a bit and still nothing. So the original ECU (MD166255, 6255 FWD NT MT/Auto), i put it back into the car and cranked it over and putted a couple times (cold out) and started up....ok,..wtf. SO i went back through both ECU's and still nothing.

Now, im just at a stand still again. Last week when i called Kayser in madtown for some injector o rings and lower seals they said that my VIN was for a 1.8l sohc. Wierd? My body is a true TSI though.

Im just looking for sugesstions, anything really, just throw something out there.

With the FWD NT ecu in my car is lacks power and i know its not running correctly ### i cant get a reading on my Knock sensor on my logger. It idles high and runs like shit..

It shouldn't take much more than opening the hood for you to tell what engine you have in the car.
All of the 2.0L 4G63's in the 1G are DOHC and you'll be able to see the turbocharger hanging off the exhaust manifold.

The MD166255 is a 2.0L NA ECU.
The 8th digit of the VIN is the engine type. T = 1.8L, R = 2.0L DOHC NA, U = 2.0L DOHC Turbo.

when i got this car it had bad compression, 10% of the bolts were actually tight and a bunch of stuff was messed up. I rebuild the motor(stock) painted engine bay, put brake lines and wires under dash, and what not. the 8th digit is "U". The ecu that came with the car is obviously the wrong one. I just done understand y my car wont run with the correct ECU.

It runs shitty, has no power, wont idle correctly. and other stuff as well.

Many of these cars are Frankenstein's now. They have been pieced together with who knows what parts. Until you have an inventory of what you really have your going to be fighting an uphill battle with your car.
