When trying to use evo scan it gives me a message saying that ecu flash files have not been downloaded. then sends an error report and closes.

Also did anyone use the flash port cable that came with the open port with the tatrix cable that was attached to that little white box. that pin looks to be too large for the stock ecu bracket

Ok so I got evo scan working now, but ecu flash still doesn't work. It will read the rom image but I can't see it or alter it in any way. I have ceddy's files both in the eclipse rom data file but I still am not getting anything.

The way I got ECUflash to work for me was to open the HEX file and that opens the ceddy mods

I still haven't gotten the EVOscan to properly work for myself except for a DTC scanner and a ECUflasher.

I'm trying to understand, you can pull the rom image but you can't pull it up in ecuflash? Does it show any errors when you try to read it?

I can download it off the car and it shows up in ecu flash but, when I click the rom info tab it shows up just like this.

Make: Mitsubishi
Model: eclipse
Sub model: gsx awd
Market: USDM
Transmission: manual
Year:1999
Ecu I'd:
Case ID: Md359403
Internal ID: EM2364
Flash method: mitsukernel
Memory model: H8539FA
Checksum model:

It gives me no other options currently.

Then something is off with your files. I'd delete everything and start again. Something might have not downloaded or downloaded incorrectly. This happened to me when I started using ecuflash a long time ago. I just deleted EVERYTHING and started fresh.

I just watched this guy do it but he wouldn't tell me how he didn't it on his computer. I downloaded 23640004 and copied them both into the eclipse file one file is 128k the other one is 1k
Also along with that I have both 20550110 files both I'm the same file.

Ok so I started from the beginning and downloaded the files in safari, all of the other files are done that way and I still am having the same issue. -_- It will still open ceddy's original file but it wont open 2364004 give me the same message that its an unknown rom.

I know exactly the issue you are dealing with. It stems from attempting to read your rom first and not having the definition file loaded in properly. I dealt with this first hand this week.

Here's how you'll get it right....

Step 1: Uninstall ECUFlash, delete it's folder, delete it's short cuts, delete everything. You will want to start with a fresh install.

Step 2: Download ECUFlash AND the copy of CeddyMods you intend to run.

ECUFlash: Download EcuFlash 1.44

CeddyMods: Store « ceddy.us

Step 3: Re-install ECUFlash. Let it load the cable drivers.

Note – Windows 7 and Vista have a feature called UAC. It makes a duplicate copy of your program files.
This means when you try to install the EvoScan and EcuFlash .xmls, the changes won’t take effect, instead the duplicate .xml will be used

To remedy this don’t install EvoScan and EcuFlash to C:\Program Files\, instead install to another directory created by you.
For example install to, C:\ProgramsXP\

Step 4: Unzip the CeddyMods file and place 20550011-mod-1v9Cb-MAF.hex and 20550011.xml in C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\eclipse

Step 5: Open ECUFlash. Do not read anything, don't even hook up your cable. Do nothing with your ECU.

Step 6: In ECUFlash, open 20550011-mod-1v9Cb-MAF.hex that you've placed in C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\eclipse

Step 7: The file will attempt to open, but error much like you were dealing with when reading your rom because ECUFlash doesn't recognize the ROM and needs to be pointed at the definition file. I don't have my tuning computer right in front of me, but there will be a drop down box listing a few definition files that can be used. One or two of them will be "1998 GST" or something like that, and also include "20550011" in how it's worded. Selecting the middle radio button that reads something like "use this exact rom" and the correct 20550011 file, then click next.

Step 8: The 20550011-mod-1v9Cb-MAF.hex rom will open. You are finished installing CeddyMods and ready to read your current ECU's rom file.

FWIW, in the CeddyMods file, there are additional files for EvoScan:

EvoScan_2.6- -> Data.xml = EvoScan .xml file for version 2.6 and below
Goes in -> C:\Program Files\EvoScan\EvoScan v2.6\DataSettings
EvoScan_2.7+ -> Mitsubishi MUTII.xml = Evoscan .xml for version 2.7 and above
Goes in -> C:\Program Files\EvoScan\EvoScan v2.7\DataSettings

What about the 23640004 files do I not download those? also the xml file on that shows up on the browser the other one is a bin file and it down loads but I cannot do anything with it. When I click it it does not do anything. I cant copy it or anything. Its installing right now so I will try again when thats done.

Don't change the file name to XML or anything? It will have the same file name as the other file.

Sorry I am very new to this flash thing.

I see it does it all by itself.. Ok so now I can try to connect it to the car?

23640004 is a 99 GSX ECU file, the latest updates from the factory, afaik, and is not supported by ceddymods. I would strongly advise not trying to use the definition file for 20550011 to operate 23640004.

This is what I was getting at! Figured he might know before hand with all the info out there.

So no launch controls or any of the good stuff that comes in 205, well that kind of sucks. We are just able to use the maps feature, and and injector and maf scaling.. I have been reaserching for a while to make sure this program was safe, I figured with all the trouble I had installing it that those files were not interchangeable.

The rom ceddy has provided works perfect. Just download this CeddyMods DSM 1v9C « ceddy.us And do everything as before and flash this.

I have that I'm not sure what you mean, I can open the stock rom along side the ceddy's 205 one. Also the dsm 1v9cb comes in 3 files. 2 of them are zip files. The one that is not zipped has 6 items

Evoacan_2.6
Evoacan_2.7+
Openport_standalone longing
20550011 safari doc
20550011 hex
2364004 bin

Zip file -1 has all the same minus the 2364004 bin
Zip file -2 has all the same as 1

So am I suppose to stick that whole file in the eclipse rom data file? Or flash the 205 with the 236 file?

I'm not understanding (step 7) 205 opens with no problems in ecu flash. I can open both roms side by side, but the guy above says not to flash the 205 file to my car because its a different car.

I got it figured out.. I didn't understand that I could flash the Gst rom to the gsx but after re-reading the last pages of ecu flash I got the answer I was looking for.

Thanks everyone for all your help with this project, tried the launch controls and they work so now I can get to business

If you'd of followed what I had told you to do, you wouldn't have fought it for so long.

Use only the 20550011 files. 20550011 was last released on 6/5/10. The next closest files available on the site are edited 10/18/09 and may not have all of the CeddyMod features.

Once Ceddy learned the roms were interchangeable, he stopped working on anything but 20550011. If you are clicking on any .hex links and displaying them in a browser, you aren't downloading the correct file. Everything is the most up-to-date and easily downloadable in .zip format through the link I posted which takes you to Ceddy's store.
