ok i narowed my problem down unforchenatly to the ECU. i have my car inside torne apart and the ECU in my hand. what do i look for to know if it is bad. it duse have somewhat of a funny smell but its not like people explained nore smells like burnt electrical

Look very closely at the ecus processor chip. If it has a small hump in it anywhere it has been fried. They sell on ebay for a pretty penney even if they are fried if its an eprom ecu.

Send it off to steve, hes a really nice guy, he currently has my ecu and repaired it in just a few days. Unfortunatly i havent been able to pay him for it yet, but hes really nice and is holding it for me until i can. :thumb:

My eyes are bleeding after reading this thread. Learn to spell people, PLEASE
At any rate, if the capacitors are blown or leaking and there's no serious damage to the PCB, just send it off to steve for repair. :thumb:

I got an ECU with a cap that blew
Based on my experence, it's time to get another. When one of the filter caps blows up (like C108) it usually takes out the voltage regulator and parts of IC111. The voltage spike often takes out the CPU and other chips. The cost to repair is more than the ECU is worth.
