So, im doing a 1.8L 4g37 Swap to a 2.0L 4g63 N\A swap.

I pulled a 7-Bolt 4g63 with 40k miles for 160$

I also got a Free ECU from it. now i have two questions.

1: The Car I pulled the ECU from was a Auto, and my Eclipse is 5 speed.

2: The Car I pulled the ECU from was a 1GB (92-94) my Eclipse is a 1GA (89-91)

will either of these things effect my swap in anyway?
I think the only thing with the year difference is ill probably have to get a Wiring Harness from a 1GB

well since only one person TRIED helping, I've been doing research for the last few hours, and found out that the particular ECU I have (D22A 6255) was used on both Auto and Manual Non-California 2.0L DSM's between 1989 and 1993. so I got lucky. :thumb:

I have put my friends auto ecu when my ecu went bad and it ran fine.

Where both 90's ? Because you can use a 90 ecu in a 91-94 with-out a prob but the 91-94 Ecu's can not use the 90 tach signal with out using a the 91+ power TR, there is a few other ways to get around it but it must be done

People need to use the search button around here, It Work's:thumb:

not sure about the n/t, but when i swapped in my 92 ecu, i had to switch 2 pins on the ecu connector just to get the car to move. now my tach does weird stuff, but it works good enough for a free ecu:cool:. i think you should be able to run the auto ecu if the stock injectors are the same from n/t auto to n/t manual

it matters on Honda's

you put an auto ECU in a Manual...youll get about 5 miles to the gallon, and youll lose a ton of power because the car wont accelerate right.

That's because they don't have a seprete Tcu like ours do But really,Who gives a $hit ???
Way to get off topic...

:tease:will the 1g ecu run the 7-bolts???

you can put a 6 bolt in a 2g and late 92 on dsms have 7 bolts
Take a guess...
before you do guess, try using the search button...

yes i know this... and i went back and reread the post and i miss read... i thought he got the motor and ecu out of different cars...

dont be a dick because its not like i told him it wouldn't work i just simply asked if it would work

A lot of 1990 (1989) parts are unique. 90s make crappy donor cars for that reason, at least when you get into parts "other than" engine. ECU, CAS, etc. BTW, there is NO 89-93 ECU, it's 89-90 and 91-94. OP already detailed the 2-wire switch-a-roo. Oil coolers are different, gear sets are different (awd 5-speed, anyway). I have an actual '90 GSX, that's my drop, know whattam sayin?
Running a 7-bolt from a 6-bolt's ECU? Doubt it. You can try but you'll probably get little more than lighter pockets and a headache. Maybe a sore butt, depending on who you get parts from :ohdamn: It CAN be done... if you know what you are doing... if you don't, grease up!
I went to a 4G67 to avoid messing with a "2nd Gen" paperweight... Say no more.
I'll try to make some time to sift through the 1GA/B and 2nd Gen info I have, lots of good info but it'll take a little while to sort through it... you know the www - everybody and their momma's compaq has an expert opinion :aha:

It helps when you take what people say out of context that you atleast leave it in a quote like I did above
I missed that you where quoting him since you did not...
You can take any 4g63 and run it with any dsm Ecu or even a Evo ecu with the correct wiring ...I was'nt being a dick I thought you where jacking this guys thread, with you own Q....When you could have just used the search button eitherway...
