Need help please. I have a 1998 Eagle Talon TSi with a few upgrades. Forced performance 18G, hard i/c pipes, 1g bov, 3in turbo back (no cat), fresh stock rebuild (about 10k on motor), Warlboro 190lph FP, and apexi afc II for tuning.

I am an idiot and when my alt/batt light came on i pulled the positive batt terminal with the motor running (stupid i know) but im used to working on non ecu (carburated vehicles).

When i pulled the batt terminal i know i got a voltage spike because the spike welded the points shut on the wiper motor. The vehicle continued to run but the wipers and cooling fans came on. When i blipped the throttle the fans/wipers sped up with the rpms, so i choked the car out using the Throttle body to kill the motor.

Now the car will not start, i have checked the fuel pump and mpfi relay as per service manual and checked all fuses including under the hood, is there any positive way to verify i fried my ecu, or is there anything i am neglecting to check before i buy a replacement?

thanks in advance for any insight/help with this issue.

theres an easy way i would find a friend and put his ecu in your car see if it starts if it does then you found the problem but if it doesnt then your ecu is fine and the problem is elsewhere

remove the ecu and open it up.. look for anything that got burnt or fried before replacing

take the ecu out pop the cover off just like stated and if it smells like tuna you foun your problem.

This is going to sound dumb but check your altenator fuse. When I blew mine the car would not start.
