scarborough,
anyone got a turbo off ebay ?how are they holding up?i heard there is some knock offs out there...how can one tell which is real or not, other than if the price is too good to be true?

There are alot of turbos on ebay. I approach them just like any item I'd buy off of ebay. Do your research on the item to make sure it is authentic. And make sure that the seller has positive feedback, more then 20 or so. Email the seller before hand...and if need be ask questions on tuners here for the specific item

Good luck.

The way to tell that it's a knockoff is the price. Do you honostly expect to get like an Acura Integra turbo kit, with intercooler, turbo, piping, blow off vavle, downpipe, etc for $750 and it be quality? Or a brand new t3/t4 for like $350? You have to look at price, that is the number 1 dead giveaway whether its a trusted brand or not.

I would recommend buying a decent turbo from a reputable company, such as AGP, Slowboy Racing and FP. They'll give you a quality turbo, everytime, and a warranty. They also offer great customer/business relations - both you cant find on ebay. I know there are countless members on this forum that have used warrantys for new turbos in the past year. Shit happens.. stuff flies in the turbo, something gets caught in the oil feed, customer satisfaction is not met, anything. I'd recommend NOT purchasing from Ebay.

As stated above, go w/ a reputable company. Whether you find that on ebay or not, thats your juristiction.

Exactly. There's certain things on Ebay that you can 'go cheap' on, like with Intercoolers (See the thread on them), but there's some things you really can't skimp on, like turbos. There's a little more to turbos than intercoolers. Buy from a reputable company.

Positive feedback means nothing when dealing with salers that sell non brand intercoolers and turbos. That feed back is from people that opened the box and the product shined and so they left positive feed back!! Dont believe me, look at the feed back yourself!!!

I have a friend that just bought one of those big 50 trim turbo setups on ebay where you get the turbo manifold, turbo, wastegate, and intercooler. Should have it all up and running in a few weeks. Just waiting for some other parts to come in but I am really curious on how it will perform.

Is there anyone that has FIRST-HAND experience with these ebay turbo's such as those 50 trim XSPowered turbos I've been seeing a lot of?

You guys really need to run searches....

I'm quoting this from another thread:

OBX = SSAutochrome = XS Power
They are all the same company changing their names to ditch the bad rep.

Care for any more SSAutochrome humor?
You are looking at a different car with a similar situation being held together with a hose clamp.

And how about their turbos?

Careful! Putting vendor reviews and/or discussing vendors products like this is frowned upon. There is a Vendor review section. this keeps the discussions purely technical. You might get this post deleted and/or lose rep points. Not flaming at all. It is all good. just warning ya there buddy:thumb:

Although, ALOT of people are having goodluck with the 2g fmic kit with short route piping. So much luck that the price has gone up almost $200.00 and they are having a hard time keeping them in stock.
Yep. Like I mentioned earlier though, there's a little bit more to turbos than intercoolers. I'd stay away from Ebay turbos unless you're 100% positive it's an authentic Evo 16G, FP3052, etc.

Same here, When I purchased my car off of a friend, He had an ''evo 16g'' on it from ebay. The first one blew apart just from a drive around the block, Literally.. It was shot. They sent him a new one, Which is when I purchased the car. As soon as I took it off ( A few weeks later, And not even a couple hundred miles on the car, The turbo was SHOT. It had so much shaft play I thought I was going to be able to pull it right out. In and out, And side to side. It was like moving a straw through a paper-towel roll...

I do agree with the I/C's. I have one myself and so does my brother and they both seem to work just great.

However I still have not seen nor heard of anyone using those 50 trim turbo kits on ebay and I am really wondering how they really do perform. I would like to know from someone that has 1st hand experience and not just from someone who heard or saw it from somewhere/someplace.

Here is one i found on ebay just now - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DSM-...ewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQitemZ8043658369QQrdZ1

Hot dog down a hallway, eh...:D

An another is the immatation T67 on there they seem to have a two piece compressor housing! one part stays on the turbo and the other part is held by the intercooler pipe and the air cleaner pipe they had been GLUED together. some of that knock off stuff is just shit.
