Anyone had any experience with the aluminum radiators on ebay. I Am looking at external oil coolers, slimline fans and an aluminum radiaiator and thes just sparked my interest. Anyone know anything?

One of my buddies (playitlouddsm) has a Koyo that he got on ebay, it seems to have pretty good welds. I mean it's keeps the car a lot cooler, plus it looks good in the engine bay.

Do you have any links to the "Ebay" radiators you are talking about? Are these the no name or knock off rads or are you just talking about purchasing a name brand such as Koyo off Ebay? I do know the Koyo is supposed to have great fit/finish and should offer about the best cooling vs the Fluidyne or PWR.

I have one of these. It's crude and the fan bolt locations don't line up for beans, but at 2.5x the thickness of a stocker, it cools like ice. The temp needle is glued to the face of the gauge now. And they're cheap.

^^^^^ Thats basically what im referring to. I am willing to drop the cash for Koyo, but if it is 95% as good as the koyo for the 1/3 the price im willing to get it as ill be using an external oil cooler also.

What do you mean "glued to the face of the gauge"? Do you have a datalogger? No FMIC, yeah? If you have a datalogger, if you could post some temps that would be great.

Is that car in your sig your car? If so, I think I've seen it around. I have one the same color.

I've had an one on my car for more than a year. I love it. Fitment was perfect. Cools awesome. When I ordered mine ($148 plus about $40 shipping) they told me it was a Yonaka Motorsports radiator. I went to the Yonaka website and saw the same radiator for about $400+!

I am looking at this ebay radiator and was wondering what you guys thought. It's nothing in price compared to the real thing.

Was wondering if anyone had some actual numbers, to see for sure if these are really worth it. Right now I'm runing 206 degrees so I need to upgrade.

With a thicker radiator like this I'm guessing it's required to buy slimmer fans?
How much do they cost?

does anyone have the exact number of degrees it drops? i mean its nice your neetle stays in the middle where its supposed to be but when i log that can be anywhere between 180 and 220 degrees. i think 220 is way too hot but the needle doesnt seem to think so.

Are you running 206 while driving or while idling in traffic? The factory fans don't turn on until 210, so 206 doesn't mean you need to upgrade.

Well when tuning my car it was always around 206 but in the summer I know that the fans kick on all the time when driving and right after I got done driving; so it is obviously above 210. Either way though I want the car to run as cold as possible. I always have the fans on now.

What do you think about the radiator though?

Worth the money and would I need to spend more money to buy slim fans?

As an estimate with the details given and with knowledge how much should it drop the temps; or how much does a fluidyne radiator lower the temps?

Thanks,
Krummel21

I'm also wondering the same thing, how much if any will an aftermarket rad lower the coolent temps? My temps used to always run at 196 before the FMIC install & now I usually see 206-210 while cruising. It will also go up slightly on WOT pulls. I would like to get the temps back down under 200 under cruise, & wondering if a new rad is what I need? I do already run water wetter.

Same one I have. But I paid less.

I have a stock radiator and run one 12'' derali fan which flows 880cfm. Before i switched to a bigger intercooler my temps were around 175F and 190ish during traffic jams. Now that i have a bigger fmic my temps go way past 220F in a traffic jam but otherwise during cruising i see around 180-185F. The stock radiator does a good job of cooling you just have to provide it with a decent fan. 880cfm's is not enough frankly. I just bought a new 12'' slim fan from maradyne that flows almost 1500cfm. Its rediculous but its going to cool that radiator well.

JON LANE, does that 2.25 inch thickness refer to tank size or core size? I need an AL radiator that is not thicker than stock.

Thats going to be hard to find unless you stay OEM. I just got this radiator and its .5 inches thicker than the oem. Oem radiator is 2.0 thick and the ebay is 2.5. I have to change my exhaust manifold because of the thickness -_-o

Bringing this back from the dead: Not long after I posted about the generic aluminum radiator (above) mine starting peeing around the top edge. I screwed around with everything else in the system until it became clear it was the brand spanking new radiator acting worse than the 8 year-old stocker.

Sent a pair of emails to these Speeding Track people and naturally, got zip back. No phone number, and I assume that's for a reason. Buyer beware.

These work really well until they don't work for crap. I'd still use one but I'd get a warranty and insist that it be pressure checked well before accepting delivery. Live and learn.

Anybody else have a source for a decent upgraded part not priced 400% over what it's worth just because it's a DSM?

JNZtuning.net is now carrying the Mishimoto radiators at a really good price and of course are much mroe reliable than any ebay vendor.
