I was wondering if you guys have any experience with any of these spring on ebay such as megan, cm, and drop zone. I ask becasue they are so cheap. I think they are all around $75 for all 4 springs when you will pay about 250 for ebiac or others. So has anybody heard anything about any of these springs. One more question also I am going to be lowereing my 1g awd about 2in and will just be driving it on the street and drag racing mostly so handling is no biggie to me, do I need a some sort of rear camber kit? I mean are the tires going to be severaly cocked in. As long as the car doesnt pull me off the road and wear tires out extremly fast it's ok. Im just worried about it looking dumb any help would be great thank mike

my friend had megan racing springs on his car and they rode waaaay better than my sportlines on my 240, thats my .02 cents

I also have Sportlines but on my 1g and the ride is harsh! They may not be considered "performance" springs but they perform great at high speed (compared to stock).

As for Dropzone, I have them on my 93 Ford Probe GT. They lowered the car as expected but the ride is actually softer than stock! I don't mind 'cause it's mainly my "normal" car and the soft ride is actually welcomed. But I do not do as much fast driving as before with my Probe because she lost some handling because of that. The only reason I bought the cheap Dropzone was because one of my front coil spring broke in half and I needed something fast and cheap to fix it. Forget about paying $200 for only one coil spring from the dealer! OMG

By the way, new shocks were installed on the two cars while replacing the springs.

As for the camber, the Sportlines dropped my Talon about 1.5"-1,8" and there wasn't enough adjustment in the rear camber bolt to bring the back tires position to spec. Had to lenghten my upper control arm as per Taboospeedshop.com instructions. So you'll definitely have camber problems with a 2" drop.

Again, with my "small" drop the rear tires looked akward without the control arm mod. And for drag racing, you"ll want the biggest contact patch from the tires for traction so with something looking like this: /--\ (from the rear) you would lose almost 1/3 the grip. More if the back squats a lot on the launch, effectively driving the top of the tires more toward the car. :talon: :dsm:

So is a camber kit pretty much just something inbetween the control arm and the wheel that just lengthens, and pushes the top of the wheel out? and Autozone said they have a camber kit, but it's alot cheaper than others that are online, is there any difference between them or does anyone know?

Regardless of what springs you buy your suspension will be out of an alignment.

You have to lower the car then get an alignment. If they can't set camber, caster and toe withing spec then you need a camber kit. After you get the kit. You need to adjust the camber and get another alignment. You can afford some negative camber in the front but make sure the rear is in spec and the toe is zeroed out.

Generally, a camber kit for most cars would simply be an offset bolt for more "play" while adjusting the strut position. For the rear of an awd 1g, that bolt is not always enough so we have to find another way to bring the back tires in spec; lenghtening the upper control arm is one way. For a 2g like yours, check on http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.html, it shows how to make a cheap camber kit for the rear suspension of a 2g.

Well I guess I will get the springs, get an alingment and then go from there. I just talked to one of my friends who has the same car as me with a 2in drop he said all he needed was an alingment and had no problems. So I will get everything together and let you guys no whats up. Oh and im buying the cheap spings from ebay hopefully they will be ok :thumb:

Not to completely burst ur bubble...but the cheap ebay springs, are pretty cheap...you're not supposed to lower a car more that 1.5 inches on stock shocks, i did mine about 3 inches and they blew of course but, i have a feeling yours will too...and when that happens..it's a bumpy..bumpy ride..but hey..at least it's a DSM and it will be DAMN sexy! :thumb:
