eBay FMIC - cheap price - quality? <link>

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Yea I noticed those threads, and I was going to suggest a 'SUMMARY POST' for such a big thread - like links to good vendors/products/etc.

Anyone have any experience with this kit? I'm very new to DMSz

The summary post defeats the purpose of gaining knowledge by reading the thread. You are SUPPOSED to read the entire thread, that way you don't have to start another thread about an existing thread instead of reading through it.

The second thread I posted about have a member who had an experience with a kit.

If you don't want cheap and ebay these are the good vendors you can get FMICs from:
www.extremeintercoolers.com
www.slowboyracing.com
www.dejonpowerhouse.com
www.agpturbo.com
www.extremepsi.com

i talked to one person who put it on. they said all the piping fit but i havent heard from him in awhile so i dont know how it is routed. i was looking at this to cause they also have the same kit with a bigger intercooler for only a little more. i hope someone out there can shead a little more light on this setup

See the second link on post number 4.

i've seen one of the kits a buddy bought and it looked really nice. quality welds and such. he hasn't gotten time to put it on though so i can't help with the fit of it.

I have that exact same intercooler with those pipes but my couplers are red. It fit perfectly in my bumper without cutting my bumper at all and the pipes I routed the short route and it all went together with ease. Took about 4-5 hours with all the cutting of the pipes and welding a bracket on my sub frame to hold the front mount and such. I can take some pics if you want. I think it looks really nice.

That's the reply I was looking for, thanks.

How much cutting did you have to do to the pipes?

Also, do the pipes in the kit go all the way up to the throttle body?

gstdude just emailed me pics of the setup and it looks pretty good. on a 2g the small intercooler fills it perfectly without hacking.

The best FMIC kit is the one from XS Power/SS Autochrome. There are some minor hacks needed which even the big race fmics that it is compared to also requires, so if your not up to doing that, then look elsewhere. But you definitely get the most for your money with that one. Check that big thread.

No, but it is an ebay FMIC. Don't expect $1000 FMIC quality and fitment from a $200 FMIC kit.

A search for "Eclipse Intercooler kit" brings up 43 kits on ebay. You expect 43 different reviews and setup pics for each different type of ebay FMIC?

Here's an item with pics - and it is more than $200. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-9...059968061QQcategoryZ33742QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I agree. If you dont have the money for quality then save up for it. Going the cheap and easy route is not always the best route.:notgood: to a cheap ebay intercooler.

Well if you wanna get bent over and pay for a core that other vendors charge 700+ for when you can get the same thing for 295 shipped, then by all means go for it. The ebay FMIC is holding the power very nicely check the dyno numbers. I started that thread for a purpose to get facts not what people hear.

Hey im not saying that this is what i hear. This is what i know. I will definitely stay with my apexi intercooler over an ebay one any day. I have personally seen them start leaking just over six months of use on my friends cars as well as others too. Thats why i say you get what you pay for. ITs quality not quanity.

I reused my greddy pipe so I didnt have to get a flange welded on, but I have enough pipes left over to go to the TB, the front mount is a crap one, the welds are perfect and I have yet to ever get it hot. I have no leaks anywhere cause the fitment was great. So to yall who are hating on a Ebay Front Mount, try one first then say something cause yalls apparently dont know anything just cause yall bought something that was crap, doesnt mean everything is crap.

hey logan you should post those pics here, if you ould take some more that would be awsome of like the engine bay, wish you had pics of how you mounted it
