eBay braided steel hose

Lookig to get some of those steel hoses i see most of you have, i checked some vendors here and they get pretty pricey. so of couse went to ebay and found a kit of them for about 30 bucks Here.

my question is are the hoses something i should pay money for and get a good quality brand? or is it a case were it doesn't matter to get ebay or branded?

anyone running with these? if so any pics?

Those aren't real hose, they are just decorative sleeves that go over your existing hose. Stainless hoses with AN fittings won't roll up flat like those are, are way more durable, and way more expensive. If you just want the look the ones you posted will be fine but most "car" people will know they are just for looks.

FYI That kit doesn't include hoses, it's just a dress up kit. But I have no experience with ebay braided hoses so I can't comment.

There just covers for your stock hoses, most people who run them will have stainless hose thats cut to there size or they have cut them selfs, ive uses this before for about 6 months and i got board of the look .

Read up on different style of hosing, what they are needed for. Teflon line, braided SS, braided Nylon.

I personally do not use SS hose anymore, its hard ot work with and ruins my fingers. I prefer Russell proclassic, or a equivalent nylon braided hose, aeroquip, vibrant.

any of our supporting vendors should be able to help you acquire the right hose. You get what you pay for, there is a direct correlation between price and quality control.

Also remember inner diameter plays a huge role when replacing stock lines with AN.

Jnztuning. Stm all sell hose and fittings, all you need is the correct size and if you dont use AN fittings then you can use jubilee clips if you trim it back

Jegs, you can get 10ft of -6 for $39. They have every fitting you would ever need as well, about $2 a pc.

Ohh ok didn't realize they were dress up, honestly im still gonna try it to see if it looks good. Not yet ready to drop so much on the real an ones, plus don't you have to do modifications to get them to fit? Not sure but i know a friend who was saying he was selling a head with welded 10an fittings, assuming its for those type of hoses?

You will have to take the old hose off to put the "dress up" kit on, and most of the time those lines don't come off without a fight. If you remove them and do not have a replacement line, you will end up in a bad place. I would also recommend the "proclassic" line over the braided steel, as not only is it better to work with, it also does not destroy paint or frey wires.

That ebay kit you linked too does not have real AN fitting ends, its just hose clamps that look like AN fittings.

Nope, It is the same thing with your first ebay post link, the only difference is that this one comes with the hose, But it is the same style, It uses Clamps like the AN Style.

For you to better understand, we could say that the SS lines are heavy duty hoses, covered with Stainless still braided lines and preheated for the braides to get onto the hose and forms a more durable and harder line, so if you try to put an SS hose with a clamp, the clamp will not be enough to squeeze the hose, the hose is to hard to get squeeze by just a simple clamp, so you need real AN fittings to install it, or get some Push in fittings.

SS lines are for durability and/or performance, which the once you link are just look/visual, nothing more then that, it is like putting a spark plug cover on your valve cover so you don't see the spark wires, or painting your valve cover so you don't see scratches of the valve cover, or a heat shield on your manifold.

Why wouldn't you just go with Pushlock and call it a day? Great Seller right here: Jeep Lift Kits, Suspension Mustang items in Performance Dynamics Speed Shop store on eBay! Easy to install, comes in braided SS and braided black; nickle, red blue, black fittings etc etc etc. All my hoses that I replaced with AN fittings and whatnot don't leak a drop and IMO seem pretty heavy duty.

Ok so decided to spend the cash and go legit, i bought this valve cover with welded 10an fittings. Now can these things replace vacuum lines, power steering hoses etc.?

yeah, you can replace every conceivable hose with SS braided. get ready for a ton of drilling/tapping and/or welding, and know what you are doing when putting together the hose ends, you can get in over your head easily if you are a beginner, there will be leaks everywhere. just plan to do the catch can lines from the valve cover, and see how that goes first before you decide to replace all your lines with stainless steel. its also a lot more expensive than you could possibly imagine once you order everything.

You are going to need the have an aluminum radiator and have the fittings welded to the radiator and head and thermostat housing in order to do this. I would honestly spend the money on something else. A new rubber radiator hose will last for many many years. If you want to upgrade something with ss lines, the fuel lines would be a great place to start.

AN fuel lines are much simpler, much cheaper, and much more beneficial than a radiator hose would be.

Some things need AN fittings welded on (like your valve cover ) some parts need metric or NPT to AN adapters. You will need to cut the braided hose to the correct length which can be kind of tricky to do without making it fray, then you have to put the ends on the hoses.
