Hi, could someone tell which of the ebay boost controllers are good? I see quite a few with different price ranges, but am curious as to which ones are the best. I am currently looking at one from JDM, but i don't know anything about them.

thanks,

If you including links to what you were deciding between, it would help a little.

But I would say, why?

MBC's are so cheap, why not get something that's been around and proven itself like a Joe P or Hallman? Saving $10 isn't worth the risk to me for something this important.

Well seeing that all ball/spring type MBC's work the same, I couldn't justify spending more than like $15 shipped for one. You can make yourself one with materials from Home Depot for cheaper than that, and it's a good learning experience. In case you're wondering, here's how they work:

My tech article.

Here's a great thread on MBC's:

I bought the cheapest one I could find a couple years ago off of E-Bay, I can't remember the seller/brand. It wouldn't regulate boost whatsoever. I have ran both a Joe P and a TurboXS MBC with no problems. Just my experiences.

I carry a tool set in my car at all times anyway because, hey, it's a DSM. But it's not like I'm messing with it all day. I mess with it till I find the boost I want to run, then I don't touch it until I want higher/lower boost. It's a once-every-five-months type deal.

I've had the ebay boost controller on my car for quite some time now.
Voodoo_boost is who makes them. He's a very good person to deal with, and will fix any problems you might have with his boost controllers. Search around there's pleanty of threads on him.

And it was the 10$ cheapest mbc they had.

I've been running the Voodoo for awhile, it's great. No reason to pay more than 15$ for a simple mechanical device.

u had one too and its to hard to change boost levels, its like 1/100 of a turn and its another 2 psi. Pay the extra money and get a good one! I recomend dejon tool, because thats what i have.

For those who say that it is a simple mechanical device, I agree, but there is quality and poor quality. If it is that simple then why to Hallman's cost so much, some is for the name but there is more to it than that. I have had a no name eBay(POS stay away from), I have also had a VooDoo. Yes he is a great guy, and builds an ok, home built, MBC. But you will find adjustment (even with a ceramic ball) difficult. The don't respond as well, you will continualy have to check and adjust it to keep the same boost.
Pay the extra money and get a Hallman (yes you can find them cheaper than 115(for the Pro RX) but you won't regret it. Just my .02

Yes! pleanty of people do.
Loctus, you'll find that you probably got the old model without the locking nut on it. My locking nut/dial has not come loose in 20k+ miles with countless 15psi launches and runs.
And i would regret paying 115 for a controller, when I can get one that functions just as well for 10 dollars, and spend 105 and a whole catback exhaust, or rebuilding my turbo, or the countless other mods.
and Morpherex,
Do you have some personal physical evidence from your statement, or are you just saying that because everyone else does? If you are, It's old. I have pleanty of "moving parts" from ebay. And they still move..
It comes down to every dealer on ebay, and then every product. No summarizing/stereotyping.

that little so called JDM boost controler all over the net for like 5 dollars works perfect.. already tested local here on 20lbs strong.. go for it.
