I recently just purchase a new eagle 100mm crankshaft from a member here and i noticed the key for the timing sproket is missing. would it be safe to say i can pull the one out of my 6 bolt crank and then get it rebalanced after the keyway is in?

I'm not absolutely sure, but I'm pretty sure it will work. As for the rebalancing, probably, but I can't say for sure on that one either.:coy: Guess I'm not a lot of help on this one, but maybe we can get some others to chime in.:)

I was going to get it rebalanced anyhow because canadapost isnt the best with handeling with care. the counter weights on the crank had the box cut almost into 3 pieces. the only thing about the keyway is if i pop it out of another crank i doubt it will stay in the eagle one while they are spinning it. my motor has been put on hold for a little while due to xmas but hopefully the machine shop will be able to help out.

yes you will be fine with the woodruff key from the old crank to be used in the new eagle crank

it should have a light press fit to it, when you install it in the new crank.

a drop or two of red locktight will not hurt if you feel like it needs it

is the only reason you want to balance is beacuse of shipping?... it is a big chunk of steel/cast iron.. unless there are chips missing or big dings in the counter weights, not much else will affect the balance of the crank in shipping.

its good to hear from some machinests out there.no there isnt really any big chunks of metal gone out of the crank. its probably more due to this is my first motor i am getting fully built and do not have the funds to redo if anything is out of wack. just nerves more than anything else.

thanks for the replys.
