e85 on stock engine

I didnt find any other thread on whether or not you can run e85 stock without problems, so i decided id just try it and share my results. Input from others on this subject is more than welcome also. My car is pretty much stock all around as far as the engine goes. the only mods i have are im running 16 psi, intake, 3" turbo back, and i've removed all emissions. I'm buying a high flow pump soon here as well. So far ive just tried running half tank e85 and half regular, and it runs great on that. I'm going to pull my spark plugs after this tank gets down and see if im running lean at all, and if not then I'm going to run straight e85. i'll post results as soon as i can.

Yea, you might not want to do that unless you want to buy an engine...

You need more fuel than the stock injectors can deliver. When you go WOT you will be VERY lean.

The most I ever ran in mine was 4.5 gallons mixed on top of 10 gallons of 93. On a Bone stock system.
And that put me at the sweet spot as far as my mixture was concerned. Perfect tan plugs.
Any more and it will lean out and cause serious problems!

But unlike you.
I did it smart and went up one gallon at a time. I just didnt fill up half a tank and see what happens.. Dont be a idiot and run a full tank.


And BTW, your full of it... There are Countless threads here about mixing E85 on a stock engine and fuel system.

I suggest you actually search this time and read the hundreds of posts about this topic before shoving your foot in your mouth again.

IDK about the engine seizing up, but it will hit fuel cut alot sooner and buck and bogg out. I would def suggest getting a logger or a wideband or atleast a SAFC to add more fuel. Dont noob it too much man.

Um...no. Fuel cut is based on airflow alone and has nothing to do with fuel.

For now, you can throw 650/680 injectors in and their size will match up about right for the injector size set in the stock ECU, but you will run really rich at WOT since the stock maps are insanely rich. You really need an AFC or EPROM tune to do E85.

i did search quite a bit... but I'm not exactly just jumping into this, i know quite a lot about running e85, like that stoich on e85 is 9.7 and max power rich is 6.9 with lean being 8.4. I got a chance to pull my plugs and they were lookin pretty over white so for now I'm going to wait to get some fun tuning stuff to go any further. I guess for now it's back to the crappy 92 octane that im stuck with in this s***hole.

Once you get bigger injectors and something to tune with, E85 is fun stuff. What's on your list?

At least your not stuck with 91, my wife's Mazdaspeed hates the stuff...

I will let you know right now if you dont have a wbo2 you are playing with fire. The ecu can only adjust a little and you will run lean. Not good.

this car is actually the daily, my z is my fun car that sucks my money and is in the process of a twin turbo swap. My plans for now are just some bigger injectors, dsmlink, fuel pump, and a gm maf in a blo thru.

Actually if you get v3 of link you can get the cable without the maf-t. It makes it cheaper. Direct gm maf integration works a lot better than a translator.
