E3GT16g rebuild

So i just finished rebuilding my Evo III GT 16g, and everything came out great with the exception of the turbine shaft sealing ring. I had some trouble getting it seated, and now when I get the turbine shaft all the way in, and seated it is very hard to turn. I am thinking I may have to take the seal off and get another one and try again. Any guesses?

Sounds to me like the turbine sealing ring groove got pinched shut from rubbing the housing due to excessive shaft play. If you can't open up the groove a little with a file so the ring can compress freely, you may need to replace the turbine.

Thank you, and just to clarify, I did get the seal to seat. The ring is fully in the groove, and both ends of the ring are touching.

Should that ring move freely in the groove?

The problem was indeed as JusMX141 said. The Turbine Shaft sealing ring groove had been pinched together approx. .3mm in a few areas.

After a bit of filing with a very small file, I got the ring groove wide enough to seat the new turbine shaft sealing ring. My turbo is back together now, and is spinning freely with no shaft play!
