E-bay downpipe - large pics

Well after much deliberation thanx to all the choices out there, my DSM mentality kicked back in. Best price w/out sacrificing quality. Found this baby on e-bay. Total was around $150 shipped and it included all the gaskets and hardware. 2.5" neck down to 3" after flex and reduces back to 2.5" all mandral bent. I know the flames about the reduction at the end, but I'll be slapping on a HKS Carbon TI setup that is only 60mm in diameter. To counter this I'll be hacking into this downpipe and installing a 3" electronic downpipe. The quality however is superb and came as a pleasant surprise. Anyways, here are a few pics:

okay you guys have me convinced........i have an N1 exhaust stock downpipe/cat/o2 housing..........question is....how much louder did your exhaust gettin for those of u going from only catback to then adding this? also does anyone know if it would be very costly to hack the downpipe then add a flange for a test pipe so i could put the cat in place once inspection time came around? thanx guyz

i had a completely stock exhaust.
on this particular mod day, I added this downpipe, a 1g blow off valve, a david brode upper intercooler pipe, and the car left some nice marks in the parking lot without even trying and i can spin the tires by just stomping on the gas pedal even if i'm already moving

definately nice. I considered taking it to an exhaust shop to have a test pipe put in, but never got around to it because I didn't want to buy another cat and my dp/cat were rusted out and otherwise falling apart from ONE rochester, ny winter

i had a 2.5 in catback and when i added the tespipe and downpipe it picked up even more power and the sound got deeper.

not to bring this thread back to life again but im ordering this downpipe buy it now in about 3 min i just wanna make sure thsi bolts up to my apex i N1 and if any of you with an N1 have you had any fitment or other issues i need to know about??

well, ive had this downpipe and the catback he sells aswell for a year now, and its still holding up perfect. the welds are all still good, and if i wash it off its still shiny..

also what is badass is it has a bung for the 2nd 02 sensor, what i did is do the 2nd 02 sensor eliminate trick from VFAq and used the plug (that comes with the catback)..

now whenever i want to hook up my wideband i dont have to jack with the front 02 sensor, i just unscrew the plug and put the sensor in and im ready... its great.

I cannot overstate how high of quality this downpipe and catback is.. its on par (or better) with any Apexi, or Greddy setup ive seen, and it sounds excellent, not loud and blappy, just a deep grumble, and its not loud AT ALL either.. if anyone has heard a full Thermal exhaust, it sounds a bit like that..

for the price, and quality, i have yet to see an equal.

I have a full 3'' cat back greddy SP Exhaust system, if i get one of these downpipes will it bolt up to my 3'' exhaust where the present cat and greddy exhaust meet up? Also, I dont understand the whole 02 housing with external gates on them. I thought turbo's exhaust housing connects to the exhaust manifold, and after that, it hits the 02 housing , then the downpipe and so on..what exactly is the turbo back order of exhaust parts so i know what exactly to get....cause i want a high flow 02 eliminator 3'' downpipe, and even though im in cali i want a race pipe/test pipe 3'' and have it bolt to my greddy...what should I do?

*illegal*? yes, bad? no, more flow and cheaper than a "high flow" cat.

So would you guys strongly recommend this compared to a RNR turboback exhaust?

Im going with a turboback exhaust coming up soon (next month or two) and wanna get a good exhaust. I think ima end up going with a o2 elim turboback from rnr but i know that o2 elim makes the turbo way more expensive than normal.

Would this be a good mod to do and just get a catback?
Instead of going rnr turboback?

RNR exhausts are the shit. The o2 eliminator helps produce less lag and can help with boost creep. What you can do is get this downpipe from ebay, and whatever catback you want...and then later on or now if u want, purchase a tubular o2 housing. I kinda heard gettin products from RNR is kinda long because they build your exhaust from when u order it and god knows how many other jobs they have. Not trying to bash RNR at all. There products are great with good prices.

you could just take yout stock 02 housing and go nutts on it with a die grinder like i did, wallow it out really good.

as far as fitment, i didn't think I'd be able to mate it to the stock exhaust, as the dp had a bigger hole at the end, and thought I'd be stuck having to buy a larger exhaust before the car could leave the parking lot, but after some muscle, it fit together just fine and I havent had any problems with it. as far as aftermarket exhausts, I don't know, all of my money goes to keeping my car running (which it hasn't done all summer)
