Whats up guys. Thanks for stopping by, I'm upgrading my brakes to the Outlander BBK. I am buying the bracket and rotor. I know that the GSX and outlander use the same caliper but I would like to purchase new ones, I'm curious if I should go OEM for rotors/Calipers or will the good ol Duralast do the same? I'll be using Hawk Pads on either blank or slotted rotors. I apologize for my grammar, it's late here and I'm trying to plan while my brain isn't present.

I'm planning to go for OEM calipers and R1Concepts Premium Rotors.

There have 4 for choose from:

2005 Mitsubishi Outlander Premium OE Replacement Rotors

2005 Mitsubishi Outlander Premium Slotted Rotors

2005 Mitsubishi Outlander Premium Cross-Drilled Rotors

2005 Mitsubishi Outlander Premium Cross-Drilled & Slotted Rotors

Where did you buy the caliper brackets?

The brackets alone are usually very difficult to find at a reasonable price. There's really no reason to buy new calipers, unless you can't find the brackets by themselves, or your calipers are in poor condition. In that case, I believe you can get a loaded Outlander caliper, or rebuild your current calipers, which is a more inexpensive option. "New" calipers from Autozone, Advance, etc are likely to be remanufactured anyway, so to get OEM/brand new ones you would need to overpay for them from the dealer (and they still might end up being remanufactured).

As far as rotors go, it's entirely up to you whether to get blank or slotted. I went with blanks (paid about $55 for a pair off ebay).

I bought 1gb dual piston calipers and brackets from Auto Zone earlier this year and am happy with them. I'd make sure to hold onto your existing bracket bolts though my new ones did not come with them just the pad clips and the caliper bolts.

Nothing but problems with the remanufactured calipers. They don't quite understand the differences between the years and AWD vs FWD (turbo and non turbo are different as well) models. The piston diameters are different from FWD to AWD (even single piston) in many cases (same with master cylinder). That goes for front AND rear.

Then when I did get the proper calipers they leaked. They must have honed the bore too much and that led to a piston leak.

For me the best option was to just buy the proper parts on rock auto.com to rebuild them myself. No sticking, no binding, and its been years since I rebuilt them.

This is where I'm picking up the caliper brackets, as far as calipers mine are shot. I don't want to rebuild them sice the original PO painted them and unwanted to go back tithe bare metal look.. I just can't se to find the calipers anywhere but autozone and orilieys.

I can pick up autozone calipers for half off the original price, but I don't want to do that if I spend a bit more on an OEM caliper that performs better.

Yeah that's what I figured.. There aren't many things i go to autozone for other than oil.. Figured this could be an exception. But I for sure don't wanna skimp out on brakes so I'll def look elsewhere. I can't seem to find a place selling the GSX Calipers other than straight from the dealer.. Any idea on where to pick some up? JNZ, ExtremePSI and STM both don't have it.. I can't think of any other sites ATM.

Scratch that.. I found some at rock auto but they are also remand factored Wagners. I also see a loaded one as well from Reybestos

It won't load the page unfortunately.. The brackets are there as well brotha.

Thanks. Didn't know Rock Auto had these.

JNZ has them as well. $126 for a set of OEM ones: http://www.jnztuning.com/product_info.php?products_id=3570

So does this place (2x $42.35) but I've never ordered from them before: http://allmoparparts.com/oemparts/MR307282

I'll be doing this upgrade in a few months. If you buy the Cardone ones can you post back on the quality?

Just so you know, the brackets you guys are linking @ Rock are for the rear brakes and the pics for the Cardone ones are of rears as well. The JNZ ones are fronts.

Thats cheap for OEM, even if reman. Get the OEM, trust me, they are done right. Unlike the aftermarket reman slaves, masters, calipers, etc......

If you don't listen to me, I want you to look yourself in the mirror when it ends up biting you in the ass, and call yourself a jackass, for me. kthnkxbye.....
