Dump tube question

Ok, so I just installed my PR dump tube and I have a little problem....I think. I can hear it the whole time I am driving. The only time I can't is if I let off the gas in gear. I don't know if this is normal or not.

When I was putting on the dump I also noticed the flapper in my Evo III 16g was all loose, and I don't know if it should be like that.

You SHOULD be unable to move the flapper by hand. Boost pressures are a lot stronger than your hand. Tighten it asap.

Sorry let me clarify it a little more. The whole arm doesn't move just the flapper itself on the arm. So if it closed there would be no moving it but while it's open you can wiggle the little plate around without moving the arm.

Definitely a wastegate problem. Try tightening it..also how did you get the flapper open in the first place?

The flapper was already open when I took off the o2 housing. Is that a bad sign?

In this video the guys tells how to adjust the wastegate. Would that be the same way I adjust mine to get it closed?

I think that is a bad sign..I have never seen one that the wastegate is open when taken off. You may need to get a new wastegate actuator or test it with a compressor to see if it even works.

I'm looking to get a new actuator asap, but driving it as is isn't going to cause any problem beside the dump being extremely loud all the time..is it?

That's definitely a problem. You may need a new wastegate actuator. It won't cause problems, like you said it will just be loud with the dump tube and you won't build boost very well.

Ok I found a actuator on Ebay, but want to make sure it'll fit on an Evo III 16g. I'm pretty sure it will though.

i have my old 14b ill sell you for cheaper. it works fine i just upgraded to a higher boost actuator.

That wouldn't solve the problem though. If he doesn't replace the actuator he won't build boost well at all.

I know it wouldn't fix the problem, I just don't like the extra noise.

I had the same problem when i put my dump on and it was horribly load and didn't hit full boost(14psi) until 5500rpm. I just put a extra washer or two on the wastegate
actuator and it solved the problem easiest way to find out if you have any play in the actuator is pull the pin and start the car when its cold and put pressure on the wastegate to see if it closes anymore then what it does now. If you need anymore explaining you can pm me.

I already tried doing something like that, but instead of washers I used a longer bolt and a nut. It moved pretty far back to where it would be closed or very slightly open, but it's still make the dump noise. I never tried to test it though by taking the pin out. I also won't be able to test it until this weekend.

Also one of my brackets on the wastegate actuator was bent a little I wouldn't pull the pin right away but unbolt the wastegate actuator and pull it tight that way to make sure its not that. Your only like a hour and a half from me so if you need a hand let me know
