I laugh at anyone who tells stories about going through 90 degree turns (like ones as tight as street corner) doing anything more than like 35 without squealing. I've had people try to tell me they did 85 through a corner like that while the car was supposedly in the air. People like to brag about their own driving F ups by making it sound badass.

Well I have always thought that the cars that are considered dsm's all are almost the exact same car so I didn't think the conquest would be a dsm
 
Well the "DSM" was made to replace the Starquest. Just look how similar the 1gA and the Starquest look. Look how similar the 3000gt looks like a 2g Eclipse. They are all tied together in my eyes because they all had a Mitsubishi and Mopar counterparts. Even the Galant did...Dodge/Eagle 2000GTX in Canada? The 1g was to replace the Shitquests, and the 3000gt was the classier GT version of the "DSM." I just love it when Galant and 3si people think they are so special and above the "DSMs" and vehemently deny any bit of their cars had anything to do with the Mopar/Mitsubishi joint venture.
 
It's no disrespect to the people who actually want to spend the time and make them a worthwhile car, it's just a term we used in West Lawn when this one kid went through SEVEN engines over and over. He didn't assemble them or anything, just dropped in some long blocks pulled from other cars. They would blow a matter of a few weeks later. It probably gets more props because anyone who knows what they are knows how much time and how meticulous you must be to just keep one running ;)

Sounds like he is full of shit, or has a deathwish, or both.

Do DSMs even do 150? Much or 140 sustained. I mean I have seen trap speeds for dsms that high. But were talking about >9-10 second cars.

If I remember correctly, the AWDs top out at 135-140 in stock trim and gearing, cause after that you need exponential power to overcome drag.

The FWDs however have a higher top speed, due to different gearing. Let me look up the links.

I read the FWDs were limited to 137 but the AWD were unlimited.

A friend that had a '90 AWD in '92 said he could reach the end of the 240km/h speedometer with ease.
 
Fwd's are limited because of the stock h rated tires. Awd's came stock with z rated ones, so they didn't limit them. In a fwd ecu you can add or remove a resistor ( can't remember exactly ) and get rid of the limiter.
 
I think the fastest I ever got my 1G AWD was 135ish. After 100 you better pay attention to the road and not your damn speedo though.
 
Not a Dsmer butI was getting some professional pictures taken, he asked about the car and he asked me if I had -one of those pop off turbos-! I was speechless.
 
Was talking to one my friends about the GST today... and His retort was that we was thinking of buying a gold plated jet car..... I just dont see the point.

Me. You had a twin turbo? Im inclined to call B/S on that. There have been few IF ANY twin turbo setups done on any DSMs and If it was done there would be pics somewhere. You got any engine pics?

Him. Nope just some pics of the outside.

Him. I dont know. I got it all done up like that.

Him. I dont know. All the gauges were stock. No aftermarket stuff inside.

Ok so at this time Im so irritated with this guy because Im telling him he is full of it and I keep asking questions about the setup to try to make the point that he never owned a car set up the way he says and that he is a tool.

I gave this guy every chance to back out of his story even telling him that I dont believe him and that it would likely be documented SOMEWHERE and people would have talked about this 96 GS that is twin turboed and RWD. Why do people have to tell stories that are completely unbelieveable about things that they OBVIOUSLY know nothing about.
