let me start by saying that i did search for this info, but i still lack the knowledge i need to make my decision. thanks in advance.

ok here is my scenario, i have 3" exhaust and a 3" downpipe on the way. and i know about boost creep. so i need to get a quality Manual Boost Controller. and seeing that my car has the dreaded FWD syndrom, i would like it to be a dual stage MBC. does this make sense? I have traction problems now and any help would be great. (i plan on getting an LSD in a few monthes and slicks over the summer).

Does a Dual Stage MBC allow me to make 2 different settings and change from one to the other "on-the-fly"? Like 11psi for 1st gear(daily) and 16psi for all the rest of the gears and/or the track use.
if so, how hard is it to switch boost levels in the middle of a 1320.

and after all else is answered, which DUal stage MBC should i get? i want the most reliable one possible. besides electronic, because i do not have money for that. thanks again

With B, if you want to run stock boost you can set it to do so-hell you can even have it set lower than that.
Actually stock boost is as low as you can go. Depending on your wastegate setup, of course. If you have an internally gated turbo, then you can run 0 psi by just taking off the actuator arm...but that's it

Stock boost may be the lowest you can go with 2A, but with 2B you can pretty much adjust it to what ever you want. I know because when I ran at the track last year with the same bc, I had low boost set to 10, and high to 21.

Ok I got a voltmeter and tested the wires going to the lighter, it is not getting power, even with the ignition on ACC. I don't know why the lighter is not working, I used it just a couple of months ago. Does anyone know where else I can find a constant 12v source.

How do you convert watts to volts? I was looking on onlineconversion.com but all they have is watts to volt ampere. Someone on here suggested using one of the fuses for power.

wait a minute I was just thinking, I should be able to use the compressor discharge for my pressure signal because if the BCS uses it then the mbc should work fine off of it...maybe.

what's the highest you could go with a 2A?
also..i'm running a 16G (TDO5H) (not sure if that's BIG 16B or small 16G:confused::confused::confused:) but what's the highest psi of boost i could run without damaging my gaskets or anything?

i think your biggest concern shouldn't be how high the boost controller will allow you to run, but how high everything else will permit: injectors and fuel pump are your biggest concerns. once you overcome those hurdles, the intercooler will hold you back. at that point, it's a matter of how much boost the 16g can run before it becomes inefficient; i can't tell you how much, you'll have to do some searching.

i think you'll find that a reasonably well maintained 4g63 will take a licking and keep on ticking, your gaskets (unless they explicitly give you reason to worry) shouldn't be a major concern. there was a local guy trying to hit 10s on the stock bottom end... i'm not sure if he made it (can a 50trim make 10s?)

A 50trim is more than enough to make it into the 10s. Hell even a 16g can do it.

Anyways to the OP, have you ever thought of making your own dual stage boost controller? It can be made for less than $50 for a dual, triple or quad. Whatever you want. With this you can incorperate as many stages as you want or a fraction of the price of anything else on the market.

Homemade Boost control at it's finest...
