Richmond Hill,
Is it possible to have 2 intercoolers in your car, one that is mounted in the front, and another mounted behind the passenger side wheel and have them connected? This is on a 92 talon turbo.

How good of shape are the Supra SMICs in that you've been seeing sell for $50? That's a pretty good price for a Supra SMIC.

Have you considered using water injection since you don't want a FMIC and didn't use the Supra SMIC? I've been having great results with my water injection and stock SMIC running 20psi, but I still am going to get a Supra SMIC or something similar pretty soon.

Real good condition. They go cheap because nobody ever actually installs them :) People buy them, find out what you have to do to make them fit, decide it's not a good idea, then sell them and move on to something else :)

I don't like things I have to fill up. I'm stuck having to fill a gas tank (and add oil and coolant occasionally), but I don't want nitrous, water injection, or anything else to think about. It's a lot more fun to have the car in the garage and know all I have to do is go jump in the car and take off to the track. Doing all the extra special prep to go a little faster gets old after a number of years. You learn to appreciate cars that you can just hop into, drive 'em, and not have to worry about anything!

i have a spearco 221 fmic that measures, 18" wide by 6" tall by 3.5" thick. i was wondering if i would get more cold air if i also added my smic to the setup along with this fmic, and if yes or no, then why?
thanks for the replies

The inlet/outlet of the smic would probably hurt power because they are a big restriction, if you are wanting to cool the charge air more, go with water injection :thumb:

they would be a restriction if i was running 2 1/2" piping from the turbo all the way to the throttle body, but my lower piping is 2" so it would match the inlet and outlet on the smic. i do understand that i will have about 6-8" of more piping and the air has to make its way through the small but thick sidemount, but the lag is probably minimal and compared that of a much bigger intercooler, but not one that was way to big for the 14b.
thanks for the replies so far.

Shit, not something like this again. Its almost like the question of whether or not running 2 SMIC's would yield more performance. You'd loose too much flow in the piping, from running 2 IC's for it to be even worth it. And the pressure drop from the 2 IC's would be much greater rather than one. When hooked up properly, w/ sufficient flow, and no leaks, your Spearco IC will cool better alone than hooking up both would do.

You can buy an air intake temp gauge and monitor your intake temps near your throttle body to see exactly what temperature your intake charge is. If it isnt within 20 or 30 degrees of the temperature at the maf sensor then you mighty need a larger/better intercooler.

As for adding a sidemount along with your front mount, go for it. See what happens and let us know. But try to monitor intake temps near the throttle body before and after to see if it makes a difference. I'm sure there will be a pressure drop by adding the smic and the bends in the intercooler pipes. As for flow I dont know if the sidemount itself would hurt flow or not, I have never seen any flow numbers from a stock sidemount.

Looks more like two Dejon SMIC's and custom piping. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a kit that Dejon produced.

"what is in the picture is what you get (except for my shoe)".ROFL Anyway, it seems pretty ridiculous to me, plus all the work needed to get it to fit.

Just think about how much pressure drop that setup would cause. Your stupid if you buy that. You drive a 98 eclipse, it will never be a sleeper...

I'm not buying it... I just found it while looking for a good deal on a spearco online. I'm leaning towards the HRC core for my car since the outlet on my 50 trim is on the passenger side.

I just wondered if it was real or if someone just got bored. Either way, it seems like a nice piece of early dsm memorabilia for a collector with more money than broken dsms ROFL

I don't know about where you live, but everyone thinks DSMs are slow where I live. Only because theres not a lot of fast ones:sosad:

Bleh, mind as well pay a hundred or so and get a supra side mount.

Thats NOT a kit they have produced, I've visited it for two years now. The only "dual" sidemount setup they produced was two WELDED together.

You are very much wrong, I don't want to ruin this thread but htat is in fact a real dejon peice. They stopped making it quite a few years ago probably because fmics become popular and they didn't sell enough of those kits to justify making them anymore.

Cleveland is home to Buschur. Shep, and numerous really fast DIY DSM'ers. As a result, even people who know nothing about cars at all, let alone DSM's, think they're obscenely fast. I live in a neighborhood where the average person would expect to see nothing but lowriders, donks, and SUV's, but I personally know 5 people with modded turbo DSM's, and there's even more running around. I saw the cops chasing a 1G TSi AWD in the snow back in December, and they didn't even come close to catching him, probably because we had like 4" of snow on the ground. Maybe that's why in Cleveland the drug dealers seem to be buying them.
