Richmond Hill,
Is it possible to have 2 intercoolers in your car, one that is mounted in the front, and another mounted behind the passenger side wheel and have them connected? This is on a 92 talon turbo.

Holy crap, where I live I dont get any respect, well until I show em...And even then they try to come up with bullshit. No respect for these cars around where I live.

I have been wondering if you could add a small fmic, such as a Saab fmic. I would like to run through it first, and then run through the stock smic. How well would it work or would it cause too much pressure drop? Thanks

First of all no question is ever stupid and it's better to ask rather than going in blindly. As far as a small fmic, people use the stock starion fmic all the time with no problems. Just make sure you get a decent core with little to no bent fins and get it pressure tested before you put it on. I believe they are good for 300hp. You would have to make your own piping but it's really not that hard.

Yeah, you can add a Saab intercooler but if I was you I'd get anStarion intercooler instead or better yet buy a brand new intercooler for cheap on ebay.

I just got an evo VIII intercooler fo 125 from a friend and had piping made for 150 slight boost drop but looks and performs great!!!:rocks:

If your talking about running 2 intercoolers it would be more efficient w/ a nice fmic. Starion fmic arnt much better then side mount believe it or not. Just get a cheap ebay core and then make your own piping. It can be done for a lot less cheap.

Will I'm poor So I don't have the money to blow on a FMIC set up also I want the look of a sleep so I was wondering if it would be even in the realm of posablity to run a dual smic setup? I have the time to fab. and weld the piping Would I get to many boost leaks?
Would I lose to much PSI with the long route of the pipes? Also has any one ever done and/or tried this?

It's gonna be a whole lot of fabbing. Plus with all the piping, I'm not too sure how efficient it would be. I belive it was on a Hyundai they put a dual sidemount on somehwere, it just looked like a mess. They had the one outlet piped straight to the next inlet. If you wanna go cheap, just go with a Supra sidemount. Better than our stockers, and probably more resourceful than dual sides. You also have to think of what your goals are. If you plan on going big with the car, you might as well just save up and buy a decent fmic now. If you're just going for mid power, the supra side would be ok.

A company used to make them for our cars. Search and you'll probably find something about it.

I agree with the above. Upgrading the single side-mount is a cheaper and more effective way to go.

Twice the intercoolers, twice the pressure drop and restriction. Not a good idea.

Couldn't have said it better myself. You're better off looking for a used intercooler from a MK4 Supra.

Just a quick question, I am getting a FMIC and I wanted to know if it would increase the cooling efficiency of routing the turbo outlet to the FMIC then from the FMIC to the sidemount (Basically in series), Then up to the throttle body, will the sidemount improve anything or will it restrict the air somehow? also, I will be running a Small 16G at about 10 to 13 PSI, James.

Its possible. The Audi TT 225 has a twin intercooler system. But I think that the FMIC will take anything that your small 16g can throw at it.

ok, It's just that I have the SMIC in right now and it would be a lot easier to just hose the cold side of the FMIC to the SMIC hot side and all I would have to worry about plumbing is from the turbo to the hot side of the FMIC, and if it makes the air any cooler then I'll do it, James.

you wont need that much on what you are running it will restrict flow and add wheight (not that much but still wheight). also try to make the piping as short and striaght as possible.

Brandon

OK, so the SMIC will restrict the air flow?
the donor car with all this on it already has a 2 1/2 J pipe and I have a 2 1/2 UICP, also I will try and make the other pipes 2 1/2 if possible the FMIC out/in lets are 2 1/4 so I won't go below that, James.

Bigger piping will help it be more efficant.

No it won't. You could put a 5ft dia pipe on the inlet side of the side mount and it will still only flow so much air. The core determines effciency not pipping. Now pipping does play a role but the side mount will be the choke point in this idea.

Don't run the side mount. The reason you bought a front mount is to replace the small and inefficient sidemount. If you don't have the correct pipping to put the FMIC on then don't put it on.

I don't HAVE the correct piping but I will get it when I measure everything, if the SMIC will restrict the flow then I won't use it, my FMIC I got is only 16x7x2.5 so that's why I was asking.

I was thinking, is it possible that i could run a front mount that connects to the bottom end of the side mount and leaveve the rest of it to run all the way though and then just hook the rest of the front mount normally to the turbo?

All you'll do is introduce more pressure drop through the system. Run one intercooler that meets your needs and be done with it.
