Is that a cracked windshield? they let him pass through tech with that?

He should brace that camera mount a little better.

Awesome video though, track looks fun. What are the rules for tapping, are you black flagged if you come in contact with another car or do they allow "love taps?"

Yeah, he did get through tech with that some how, I am not 100% sure why. Tapping is allowed (love taps or a little rubbing) but not straight up punting someone off the track. You can see that car and a Porsche mixing it up a few times on there actually.

Yeah, I'm not sure how he had it mounted in there. Hopefully when I do mine I can do a little better job of keeping it from bouncing all over the place. But going accross rumble strips and over curbing I dont think any camera would stay very still.

^^^^ Yeah I saw that video as well. I just personally do not want mounted to my windsheild in any way. I am going to try using a dashmount system or the one my dad has that goes onto the roll cage. We'll see which one works out better.

If you're using a conventional mini DV camcorder, ioport makes an awesome camera mount. It swivels in every direction and bolts to your harness bar/roll cage. It has a polyeurethane bushing in the mount to absorb shock. I love the camera angle it gives me because I can still see the dash but I need to upgrade the camera to get better resolution.

Thanks cioc, I will give that a look :thumb:

so how is the car doing esiboosted??? is it ready for this weekends race event???

Well it was actually suppose to be next weekend, but the event got rescheduled to March 6 - 8 instead. I need to put the FP manifold on (Friday) and finish up some other things that needed to be replaced, recirc tube, brake pads etc. But after that, it will be good to go for the final round. Cant win overall but still have a shot at 2nd overall in the points. Basically I have a podium lined up when it is over. Not too bad for the rookie year in the series.

After that, car will be down for about 3 - 4 months getting everything done to it. The mod list has changed I think about everyday. But I kind of figured it would. Also, going to be losing around another 100 lbs out of it as well. After everything is done, engine broken in. We will be going to the dyno then off to some testing sessions at the track to see if we can get it dialed in on the track and not on some dyno.

Whats up with your car Andy? Get any ducting mocked up yet?

My car is at this status:

Engine: Done (other than a few minor things)
Suspension: Install new Hyperco Springs
Brakes: Order and install TCE 13in Wilwood brakes
Exterior: Weld in sheet metal where sunroof used to be and paint it(taking it to a body shop)
Interior: clean it!!!

FMIC air Ducting, check out the winter mod thread.

:thumb::thumb: Checked it out. You going to gut that thing or no?

BOOOOOOOO :notgood::notgood:

Just kidding Andy. Hey if thats what you want man. Do it.

Well, I should not say FULL interior, it will not have a radio or speakers, and there is plenty of weight reduction on her. I still like to get in my car and not have it sound like a tin can. I am hoping I can get the car to weigh about 2850lbs or less without me in it.

Sounds good man. I am trying to get mine to near 2200 - 2300 lbs with me in it. Easier said than done I'm sure. But I will give it the effort to get there.

I gotcha man. Carbon Fiber is a good thing...You going CF doors, hood, hatch, fenders etc.?

I may look at going lexan as well. Just depends on the 'ol budget will allow you know? All the engine goodies and suspensin is running around $2,000 before labor right now. So we'll see what happens.

Well, this is where I really don't know what to decide.

This year the car will still be driven on the street. This is my weekend warrior. I don't want to take away too many comforts of driving it on the street just yet. I like to keep it drivable on the street so when i feel the itch at 9pm on a Tuesday, i can take it though me favorite twisty section of road.

For next year (2009), i am undecided of what to do. My options are:

1. Buy an Evo (Most likely an 03-05.5 VIII, I don't want ACD)
2. Completely tear apart this talon and make it FULL RACE
3. Leave the talon like it is, and buy another track slut (interested in a Honda CRX w/B16)

I can understand that Andy. The CRX's can be made to be pretty good track cars. There is one I race against and it is fast and handles really well on the course. Parts for that car are also readily available and cheap just like DSM's as well. I would rather see you keep the Talon as a full race car than go with a Honda though man. :)

Yeah, well i would keep the talon as the honda would only cost a few grand, whereas the evo would be near 20k. I like the fact the CRX is so light, and with a B16 and 150-160hp, should rip good.

Oh yeah, I understand where you are coming from there man. Just want to see more DSM's at the road races you know?
