I purchased an eprom ECU from a running 2g gsx with the DSMlink chip already socketed in the car. The chip is made for a 95 gsx with 550cc injectors. I have a 1996 eclipse GST with 680cc injectors and can not get the dsmlink to connect with my lap top. Im currently using my logger cable which i heard you can't use, which can be a problem. Does any one know any other possible problems and or where I can buy the right cable I need? thanks for any advice/ replies in advance.:dsm:

Do you have a legit copy of DSMLink? If you do, you should get the appropriate OBD2 connector and cable from DSMLink.com (Thomas or Dave) and use their tech site (www.dsmlink.com) for connection errors. My bet is that your COM port is incorrect, but also has to do with your cable.

Sounds like your cable, and com port setting in dsmlink software. Try changing com port in settings, if that doesnt work, its your cable. I don't believe a logger cable is the same, but i might be wrong, but if changing the com port doesnt fix it, then I assume the cable is not compatible.

Check dsmlink forums.

The cable is not simply a logger cable, it's unique to dsmlink. If you don't have it you won't be able to connect. You can try to contact the dsmlink admins and see what you can do but read below. Do you have all the legit info on the previous owner, dsmlink serials etc?

2G Cables - replacement/purchase

Believe it or not, your 2G DSMLink cable/adapter is the key to your DSMLink package. Do yourself a huge favor by treating it as such. Don't lose it and don't leave it lying around in your car while you're away. If you damage your adapter, we'll gladly repair, often free of charge; but the damaged adapter (at least the internals) must be returned to us first.

Because people are copying our chips, selling them, and then telling the buyers to contact us to get a replacement cable/adapter, we've had to suspend sales of the adapter entirely. This makes it very awkward for someone that has their car broken into or simply loses their cable. We can't distinguish one situation from the other on our end. We tried for awhile, but then people got wise to what we were asking for in terms of "proof" and just started faking that.

So we're left with no choice but to simply stop replacing cables. I suspect this is why other shops selling similar products had to do the same thing. You can thank anyone that you find selling copies of our stuff for the hassle.
