I am stumped and undecided wether to go with the gm maf or stock 2g maf, i have both with me, but to run the gm maf i still need to get me the translator and the 2g maf is ready to go.
In the end i will be going ecmlink, and a 2g maf is more than enough for my goal of 400, not to mention easier to tune with too.

Should i go along with the gm maf setup and finish it up or should i stay 2g maf ?

I have read about that a lot brian and that specific problem about temp change has me thinking, and i like simplicity.
Not to mention i also want to change things up a bit and have a somewhat rather stock looking appearance.

Is the temp fluctuation really that bad as they say ?
So with a 2g mas i tune for it once and that's it ?

The fluctuation can be annoying. I noticed it on my car when I had a GM MAF. It wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't run the car balls out without changing the tune a bit. It was ok for just driving around town.

The 2g MAS wouldn't be a once and done tune, but you wouldn't have to change the tune nearly as often. Obviously your tune will change a bit on any car when the air density changes (i.e. winter vs. summer).

Not trying to push it on you, but no desire to look into speed density?

I did look into SD, thought about it and started to skim on info about it, parts needed, but it looks somewhat challenging to tune.
I read it was a little complex ?

I also looked into the same thing your doing, just found it easier to decide to stay with a 2G MAS till I actually feel it necessary to switch over to SD.

Not really complex. A bit different than other tuning, yes, but nothing you can't learn. And my brother and I (mostly him) have been developing an Excel sheet that pretty much is doing the tuning of the SD table for us.

I'd say keep the 2g MAS for now and read up on speed density. If you choose to go with it, you'll need the 2g MAS (easier than using the GM MAF) to build your base speed density table. Using ECMlink for that is easy as they have a wizard to do the work. Once you do that, you just switch over and the car will run the same.

Sounds good man, i think i'm almost just about set, thanks Brian.

I had a question, on a 2g, is the plug on a maf translator supposed to "clip" onto the 2g maf plug, or does it just slide on ?
I can't seem to hear the "click" noise, is this normal ?
My friend has a maf-t on his 1g and it "clips".

Thanks for any input.
