Well I thought I would be able to just plug this thing in and go but man was I wrong LOL. I am working with a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro sp2 on my laptop. When I try connecting to my ECU I get these to errors, this is using ports LPT1&LPT2 ( does not give me the options of com ports)

I do not have access to the link forums yet because the guy I bought the setup from didnt remember his password. Also when in Device Manager under ports com&lpt it only sees a printer port or something... I tried contacting Thomas Dorris and he pretty much told me to go to the same spot that I've already read numerous times.

Anybody have any ideas? I need a tune!!!! THANKS!!

Looks like you have V2. Dies your computer have a serial port or are you using a usb to serial adaptor? If adaptor, does your computer recognize it as a working device in the device manager?

I am using a DYNEX serial to usb adaptor which has been proven to work with 2g's . When I plug it in it goes to the setup wizard for the device and asks for a cd but the adaptor did not come with one. I think it might be an issue with my laptop... I am going to try downloading the V3 app right now and see if that does anything.

THanks for the responses guys.

I did contact them they referred me to the transfer article that they have.. I hope I bought a legit copy.. Is there anyway I can tell for sure? The CD does look a bit sketchy, there is one of those sticky cd cover lable that looks like its been attached to a burnt CD, but the chip in the ECU says dsmlink on it and I did recieve the key with it...

The Dynex needs to be seen as a com port.

Since you don't have the cd, the drivers didn't get installed.

If you don't install the drivers, DSMLink doesn't see the com port.

This applies to ALL versions of the client.

Well I got it to work after installing some drivers and changing around some COM ports. Now I just have to tune this sob.

Thanks HAL your post is what helped me figure it out. :hellyeah:

Wait...my e-mail at 7AM this morning suggesting that you install the dynex drivers didn't help? :D

Glad it's all working either way. Definitely grab the V3 application as was suggested in that same e-mail.
