I know, I know. I probably won't be able to win, but help me out. My buddy just stopped by with his '98 YZF 600R sportbike. More or less stock with just an intake/pipe. However, he took his pipe off and WOW is all I can say! He took off and hit the first 3 gear and good god that thing sounded very nice! Thing sounds extremely mean--especially since it's only a 600. Anyway, on to my question. Would I have a chance at hanging with him at any speed? I know I don't want to roll with him in 1st gear since I'll just break traction instantly. I'm thinking 40mph which is a good spot for our cars. Let me know. Mods below in sig. Within the next couple weeks, I'm getting a ported 2G manifold probably and installing a 34mm flapper door.

Considering your best 1/4 time is 0.000, you will probably loose  ANyway, I owned a 2000 YZF 600R last year (sold it) and if you have an AWD, race him from a start. The bike has no power until you hit about 8500, so run him down as low as possible. I believe the bike runs 12.1 with a 180 lb rider if I am not mistaken.
Race him and find out, it will be fun either way!

I hung with one pretty good on the highway one time, 40 to 110ish. I still lost but they have a slight weight advantage.

Just a little weight advantage! :thumb:

I'm a FWD. We'll see what happens. I'm not expecting to win but with my alky injection, the car feels really strong:)

Well since you are stock I would suggest modding the car until you get it into the 11s. All you need is a FMIC, 20g, FPR, 255lph pump, 880cc injectors, DSMlink, and some cams. You should be able to smoke him then. A built tranny would help too. Nitrous is a temp solution for a perm prob.

Go from a dead stop. Does the bike have a power commander on it? I raced my buddies '06 FZ6 600 a few times, from a 10 roll I was behind him and actually had to hit the brakes from running him over. Past 70mph you're gonna wanna have your shit together and a nice lead. A well driven mid/low 12 sec DSM should get the bike all day till @ 100+

FYI if he put a pipe on that bike without a programmer, its gonna go slower ;)
I'm not sure if those are carb tho....

but an older 600 should be a kill in an AWD car from a dig....since youre FWD...eh....you're ###### gonna loose unless you can hook REAL good and lay out some power :)

Benchracing and streetracing. A no-no on this site.
