Just found these pictures on here somewhere, and this idea popped into my head. What does the DSM communities cars look like when it comes to rust? post shock towers, under bodies, exterior, radiator support, anywhere on your DSM that has rust. or if you have a rust free car post your nice clean shock towers and ect. :thumb:

This is a really neat idea. I have 2 1Gs. 1 is a total POS, held together with drywall screws, and it's paaeger side rocker panel is literally gone. Rusted away; nothing but plastic trim and air. The other car is pristine: No rust anywhere on the car, original paint with shiney clearcoat, cad plating still gold on all the underbody fasteners, even the exhaust.

I'd go out and start taking pictures right now, but it just got dark. Plus, I'd need a lift to really take the drool-inspiring pictures of my '94. So I'll definately be getting back to this thread with some pics.

My car is at the garage but the only rust that I'm aware of is external. It's above the rear passanger tire along the molding of the bumber and fender. Not TOO bad.

I had a small rust spot fixed near the back tire about a year ago... and now it's rusting again in the same spot, thanks autobody guy you did a superb job :thumb:

Salt is a killer. Luckily all the cars in the PNW hold up pretty well since they use sand in the winter instead.

My car was daily driven until '01, then I restored her over the years. Zero rust.

Even my other GVR4 that I use for skiing and daily driving has zero rust issues.

Salt attracts moisture. That's why you see so many Midwest and Northeast cars with rust issues. They use a ton of salt on the roads during the winter.

I'll take some pics tomorrow, but my 92 NT Talon has surprisingly little rust...except where the gas tank is concerned. It's leaking badly. I actually just got back from Justin's house. He's prepping my new tank to go in hopefully next weekend.

^^^^ You know your a DSMER when during your washing routine you bust out the jack and wash and buff under your car.Nice car I would be like a old man with a hotrod with that baby.It would be a garage queen. One day it will be worth a lot of money.

That car is a garage queen. :) Only comes out when the weather is nice.

I have this one for daily duty:

Like I said though, the grey one has zero rust as well. What they use on the roads in your area during the winter is what makes the biggest difference, IMO.

Yep I guess we just got lucky :) but....Where I live the bastards just dump a shitload of gravel and that sucks for frontmounts and you get tons of little chips. But I guess it's better then sliding off the road and crashing LOL.Both of your GVR4's are sexy man.

This picture shows the only rust on my 1G. I have it in this same spot on the other side as well. I've since cut it all out of the car, and I'm left with two big holes - two big speed holes. :D

And my 2G has never seen snow, and rarely sees rain, so no rust anywhere on it.

Since I drive my car quite a bit in the winter, I track a lot of snow into the car. I ended up pulling my carpet last spring, and fixed all the little rust spots that were starting to form from the INSIDE of my floor pans. Then I used truck bed liner,on the inside, to coat the whole foot wells. The water can now pool a good bit in the foot well before it can cause any damage. It gives me plenty of time to get the water sucked out.

It's the only downside to snow, as far as I'm concerned.

I'd never seen this before, untill I bought it. I have no idea how it happened, I'm totally stumped. But it is the only rust anywhere on the entire car. She's MY garage queen! Flew out to Spokane to pick her up, I'm probably going to have to get one of those car-covers myself.

My DD on the other hand, is a different story.

On my Talon I've repaired my drivers side strut tower and the passenger side rocker panel and frame rail. I had to repair it because I couldn't jack it up anymore.

I couldn't find my camera at the time so I only have these 2 pics of what I cut out of the rocker panel. Now that I found the camera I'm going to have to take some pics of the finished repairs. The drivers side rocker is next.
